man i hope Brown's Hammy is only tight and nothing else....Matt Johnson and Miles Austin were "Perma-hammy injury"....and it was always an issue

also Lewis and Switzer have never had hammy issues before and they are still out....but if you look at our overall injury report so far in comparison to the last five years

we are doing better than ever...hope we can keep it up and that all injuries are minor

I feel like Austin, and especially MJ had bodies that were shaped or aligned to be more susceptible to hammy pulls. They even said Johnson's constant hammy pulls may have been due to a muscle imbalance which caused him to run in a way that put a lot of stress on the back of his legs. AB had a healthy rookie campaign with a lot of playing time, I'm assuming his is just one or those 'early in season pushing too hard' types

In my opinion the experience is invaluable. I rather see him on the field if healthy. He has a ton on work on to get better. His he improved but truth be told he could not have been any worse considering how bad the start was. I like this kid. I think in time he will be a servicable DB for us. So either way how it plays out I just hope it works out for us
You talking about Anthony Brown......Number 30.......you said he couldn't be any worst but have you checked his stats the last half of the season? Statistically he was the best corner in the league. You seem to be the doom and gloom crowd

Lewis and Switzer could both play but seeing we have 4 more games no need to rush. Especially with hamstring injuries. Only sat for extra rest

At this point 4 to 5 preaeason games are unnecessary, could pronanly get by with a scrimmage against a team and one preaeason game.

Of course, its a money thing and not a training method so it really doesn't matter.

Its just that it's so needless to aee a player lost because of a preseason game injury.

It's been asked before, but I'll ask again.

Do we have more hamstring injuries than other teams or do I just see our teams news a lot more?

Guys like Switzer say they've never had one until now.

Coincidence or something we do/not do?

Anthony Brown's hamstring issue was merely a tweak, according to Coach Garrett, so it's really nothing to worry about. We've been pretty fortunate so far in TC not to have any severe injuries to this point in time. Hopefully, if this continues, we should have a continued healthy preseason and a productive regular season as well. Every team in the league gets their share of these kinds of hurts. So far, so good. ;)

Mr HowaboutThemCowboys--- I like the Miles Austin insert but who was the 4th round pick of 2012 i think?...Matt something?...safety...and for like 3 years he could not get on the field cause of hammies and they let him go and he never played again...but he was a beast in college..i think at Boise St?

Matt "the Hammy" Johnson
Matt and Miles in the Hammy HOF, but both held out of the game itself.

Both could be back when they return to Oxnard. Will be evaluated then. But don't be surprised if they are out another week, as well as Brown. But that is ok, make sure they are 100%.
I think they learned from Miles and Matt, don't rush any back too soon, take that extra week.

I'm glad the Cowboys staff respects the health of their players enough to "err on the side of caution." Far too many NFL coaches in the past have rushed players back, only to discover that in trying to do themselves a favor, they selfishly failed the team. Here's hoping our players with "hammy" issues all heal splendidly and come back to play better than ever -- thanks to a staff that honorably respects their health and healing.

What the heck are you talking about? Ton of work to get better? Servicable? Do you watch the games? No one has said anything close to what you posted. In fact, it is normally the complete opposite. He's isn't ready for the HOF but he is far better than you think he is.

He more issues than just hamstrings.

He was an example of too much time in the weight room. He should have taken a year off from weight training but that off-season after being cut he tweeted that he was going all-in in the weight room and planning to return to the NFL.

David Boston ruined his career due to too much time in the weight room (and roids).

We're good as long as Garrett doesn't say, "Day-to-Day" .. he says that and we need to be looking for a replacement :D

mr xwalker----- Wow i did not know that is what happened to David Boston...i remember when i first saw him how much potential he seemed to have?.....so you think Matt Johnson ruined himself by too much weight training and binding up muscles?

Good question. I don't hear a lot of other teams have hamstrings. Mostly it happens when you do weights one day and heavy running the next. I think they should have a hamstring specialist on staff to ensure that the players don't get it.

Bullflop--- Cowboys did stupendous job with Zeke last year when he strained his hammy...and kept him out till 3rd preseason game against Seahawks and Zeke plowed through their defense

If you looked at him up close it was obvious. His muscles had muscles. It was too far past his natural body/frame.

He literally should have stayed away from the weight room for an offseason to give his body a chance to recover from years of being over-worked in the weight room.

David Boston lost flexibility and then started getting injured. It was well known that he used Roids. He was reported to be obsessed with with the weight room and getting bigger. I think he entered some body builder contests.

Years ago I was lifting about 6 hours per week. I started having shoulder problems. The doctor diagnosed it as tendinitis (tendonitis) and lose shoulder joints from stretched tendons/ligaments. He sent me to a physical therapist and their treatment was mostly lifting with light weights at higher reps and some stretch-band work. It didn't help. Eventually, I just took time off from lifting and the problem resolved itself. I don't think it was ever going to get better if I just kept lifting.

Yes -- that "day to day" mantra is about as non-committal as it can get. I'm guessing it just reflects what Garrett is trying to achieve, which looks to be privacy. There has been some degree of mystery in the past in terms of the awareness of injuries that the team offers the public. As far as I could see, Anthony Brown walked off the field without any indication of a limp, so that's encouraging. I doubt it's serious. We've been pretty lucky so far not to have anything much more serious than that in terms of injuries. Here's hoping our good luck continues.
