Anthony Henry

Fans always complain about players not making "big plays". What they fail to realize is that players who are known for making "big plays" (interceptions, forced fumbles, sacks etc.) are risk takers. You don't pick off a lot of passes unless you take risks. Like with anything in life, if your risks pay off, you like a genius and everyone praises you. If your risk fails to pay, then everyone calls you a loser. I just think it's nice for a change to have a CB who is willing to take some risks again. Regardless, you can't have it both ways.

Newman is playing the best CB of his career. He's allowed one pass completion the past two weeks against the likes of Moss and Owens. He could be in the Pro Bowl this year.

An amen to that, brother Mike! :)

See the interference call on Henry? Greg Lewis pulled his jersey and then pulled his facemask and Henry gets called for holding. :ref:

He's a ballhawk.
Something we've been missing.
He'll make some big plays and give up some but I am very happy with his play and haven't felt this good about CB since Deion and Smith.

well thats part of the game too, some players are great at antagonizing the oponenet with quick grabs and holds, pushes and other types of illegal contact then the opponenet responds and gets called, happens all the time.

Newman is a better CB than most people think. I still stand on the belief that he is the best one on the team.

I agree Newman is our best cover guy. Henry brings more of a playmaking dimension. Henry will gamble a bit, yet rarely gets burned. I love Henry's style. No knock on Newman, I just like the way Henry plays. If I had to pick one or the other, I'd pick Henry because of his style.

I'd pick Newman because he hasn't been exposed as of yet this year, not that Henry has, just that Newman has been virtually silent, which is a great thing for CBs

henry has had 2 great games, two good games and one bad game. to me hes been a great addition for the cowboys . he brings alot of swagger and toughness to the secondary .

A good cb can watch the QB and see the WR with his peripheral vision...he can see the wr as a person in his line of vision without focusing on him...when a player focuses entirely on a guy, he loses any recognition of what's going on around him and the QB.

A LB has to look through the lineman that is his key, reading the fullback or TB, depending on which is his other key, and still see where the QB goes with the ball...everything lines up in his line of vision, but he doesn't focus or stare down on one guy.

The same is true of guys playing basketball on defense...they see their man, their area, and still keep sight of ball movement.

A CB who is so determined to be glued to his receiver that he stares into his chest and loses sight of his defensive help, the sideline and end zone, other receivers in the area, and the QB, will never be a great CB, imo.

Awesome take. I think Henry is the better overall corner. You explained the type of player Newman is perfectly in your last paragraph.

* I'm not trying to put wordds in your mouth if your not in agreement with me. Thats just my opinion, that you were talking about Newman in your last paragraph.

Not unless he develops some signature celebration or starts talking major trash.

TNew clearly does not understand what makes fans think a guy is a stud CB. It isn't playing well as much as drawing attention to yourself and telling everyone how good you are. If you put Smoot's mouth on TNew everyone would think Terrence was the best CB in the league.

I love Henry. Hes playin great. Every corner will give up a play or two. Hes aggressive, strong & tall. Couldnt ask 4 more!:jints:

Hey, give some credit to the pash rush too this year. If we keep it up I could see some more desperation passes that lead into INT's. Were just starting here.

henry has great awareness, a physical style, and sharp instincts. he just looks fearless. what a contrast to the parade of bum CBs visited upon us the last few years.

i couldn't be much more impressed. so far, he's everything advertised and more.

I still stand by Henry being the best CB we have on the roster, in coverage and in tackling.

Total awareness of what is going on. I'm inagreement with Parcells on this.

Newman has a lot of talent and he is getting better, but we will see when the teams start attacking him. right now they want to attack Henry to see what he is made of, and he is showing them, they will stop, and go to the other side, and if Newman holds up, then they will start attacking the middle the field, to test the Safeties and the LBs

He made a play for a ball to Greg Lewis in the second quarter; got there a split second late and gave up a first down. I loved it. Low risk, aggressive, AWARE, cornerback play. The guy is awesome in coverage and tackles well. His solid play on one side is allowing our star CB, TNew to shine on the other. I think Henry will go down and our best FA signing since Glover.

He's certainly contributing more than Ferguson. Jason is struggling for the dominance I thought he would have on the line. Glover is his equal.

I loved the play where henry took greg lewis and slung him almost into the front row at texas stadium. I love the aggressive play of henry, its only a matter of time before the INT'S come.

Huh? Are you watching the games or just looking at the stat line? Ferguson plays the least glamorous position on the line -- his job is to free up others to make plays -- and our D-line has been making plays.

idk, teams saw what Henry was capable of the 1st 2 games, and still, Newman isn't being attacked

Teams are attacking Henry because Newman's guy is blanketed.

It is also Newman who is the better all-around CB and the better tackler - that's why he plays the slot.

Henry is a good CB. Newman is playing at an All-Pro level. Henry will benefit as the Cowboys shade the defense to his side knowing that Newman's taking care of business on the other side. That will allow Henry to be even more aggressive and hopefully generate a few INTs.
