Perhaps the best news receiving little or no attention during Cowboys minicamp was the health of defensive back Anthony Henry.

"I'm 100 percent now," said Henry, who suffered a hamstring injury in Week 8 of the 2005 season that slowed him the rest of the way. He missed four of the team's final eight games. The injury wiped out a season that had Pro Bowl written all over it.

"I thought it was something I could just fight through," Henry said. "The most important thing is mentally; just getting over it and not having to worry about it."

Henry was signed as a free agent ostensibly to cover then-Philadelphia Eagles receiver Terrell Owens. He struggled to do it in minicamp, but he doesn't have to worry about it now.

"I'm happy; I don't have to worry about him anymore," Henry said. "It's good we picked him up."

he was one of the best players on defense prior to getting hurt.

I love henry, he was ballin before he got injured last season. He's got that quiet confidence about him. I think we have the best trio of corners in the league. Aaron glenn was a blessing in disguse after the henry got injured. Newman along with henry should have opposing WR's shaking in their boots.

You must have missed the San Francisco/Brandon Lloyd debacle.

A game in which we won

We also won games against San Diego, Arizona, Philadelphia and New York, all of which Henry played extremely well in. If not for Henry, we probably lose the SD and NY games.

In the San Diego and New York games you're crediting Henry with winning, he allowed 10 catches for 127 yards. Newman allowed five for 62. And if not for Aaron Glenn's interception in the end zone, we probably would have lost the San Diego game BECAUSE of Henry. On the Chargers' final drive, Henry allowed a 17-yard catch, then allowed a 33-yard catch to our 7-yard line on fourth-and-14. Thankfully, Glenn saved our win.

People always remember the highlight reel plays and forget the busted plays, on some players. I remember people who thought Ross was a better CB than Newman around here. I always thought that was just about the dumbest thing I had heard. Henry isn't the best player on our defense. He isn't the best DB on our team, hes not the 2nd best DB on our team. Hes a very good #2 CB. If Henry made the probowl last year and Newman didn't it would have been a joke.

He also had 2 INTs for 44 yards, 9 passes defenced (most guys dont get that in a year), 18 tackles, and a forced fumble

But hey, selective stats are cool to. bTW, where are you getting the number of catches he gave up?

The downside of the stats your showing there is that they kept on throwing at him. If a OC keeps throwing at a player then they either see a weakness in that player or they are more affraid of the player opposite them.

And Henry kept knocking the passes down and picking them off

I believe that Bill said that he was either the best DB or Defensive player on the team before his injury.

I still think Newman was the better DB but they were not throwing much his way.

I do think that Henry was playing pretty good and in some ways did what Roy does on occasion and by that I mean make a play that just fires the team up and changes the momentum.

Henry had a lot of opportunities to make plays because he got picked on. And he almost lost the San Diego game for us right here --

Henry made some plays before his injury, but he also got burned a lot. Newman made just as many big plays and never got burned one time. Henry wasn't even our best cornerback before he got hurt, let alone the best player on our defense.

During training camp, Parcells was asked about having acquired Henry to put on the other side from Newman (where there was a revolving door in 2004). Parcells said he was the best they'd had since he's been here. He never stated whether he meant the best cornerback or just the best right cornerback, but several reporters interpreted it to mean Parcells saying he was better than Newman.

Henry isn't the best, but IMO he's a good CB for us to have. He's a good #2.

He also made a comment early in the year about the way Henry was playing. IIRC, he suggested he was playing as well as any corner in the league at that point. Anybody recall the quote?
