Antoine Cason anyone? Cut by Panthers.

Don't know much about him. But why not, we do need help at CB.

We need some CB help, former first round pick. Couldn't be any worse than what we have, we should take a flyer on the guy.

Cason was benched for the second half of last Thursday night's Week 9 tilt against the Saints, and the team is considering making it a permanent change. Melvin White, who was benched at RCB in favor of Josh Norman earlier this season, is the top option to replace Cason. Cason has allowed quarterbacks to complete 81.8 percent of their passes in his coverage and five touchdowns. Cason is Pro Football Focus' worst cover corner out of 109 qualifiers. Nov 5 - 8:44 AM

Panthers waived CB Antoine Cason.

Cason has been one of the worst corners in the league this season, and was benched in Sunday's loss to the Vikings. He managed 58 tackles, four forced fumbles, and two interceptions over 12 games (11 starts). The Panthers will move forward with Bene Benwikere opposite Josh Norman. Dec 2 - 11:16 AM

If the Panthers cut him...no thanks.

In all seriousness he was getting picked on all season in coverage.

I always liked this guy when he was with the Chargers. Surprised he's only 28. Find it hard to believe he'd be worse than Carr, but Gil Brandt says he has the worst burn % of any corner in the league.

Other than creating turnovers he seems like he will fit right in

He needs a change of scenery and we need some quality depth. I would definitely bring him in and work him in certain situations as our 4th CB. He may not be able to start right now-- but you could worse in terms of depth.

Based on this it looks like Cason has completely lost his confidence. Mo Claiborne on steroids.
Believe it no not, but I don't think it would be a upgrade to bring him in. Hard to fathom, I know.

Why do people always say 'couldn't be worse than what we already have' when it comes to bringing in literally player off the street?

Of course he could be worse than what we already have. Plus, it's a waste of precious time and roster space if the guy can't play. There's absolutely downside to bringing in the wrong players.

That's nto a comment on Cason, one way or another. I don't know how he's been playing or why he was released. Just a general comment on one of my least-favorite internet phrases that we hear whenever a veteran with a name we recognize is cut.
