Fun fact, he played high school football at Los Alamitos with current Cowboy Orlando Scandrick.
Fun fact #2, he is cousins with two former Cowboys, Ken-Yon Rambo and Aveion Cason.
It's possible for a decent player to get cut by a bad team. If the player is a free agent they might just want to call up young players to get started prepping for next season. How can you be solid and cut by a last place team? Unless there is something else going on.

If I were managing a bad team I would cut some veterans that I didn't expect to return and would then sign a bunch of practice squad players to get a jump on finding some players for the future.
Also, if another team claims the player you don't have to pay the remainder of his salary.
Having said all of the above, I don't think that's the case with Cason. I think he is just bad.
This is only slightly behind the 'can't be any worse than what we've got' reasoning for me. Why do people think coaches have players out of position all the time? It's a pretty rare example where you shift a guy the way we did Crawford earlier in the season and have it work out, and even then, it's always with a guy they were looking for a position fit for in the first place. Unless you're Belichick and you've proven you can take a WR and make him a DB at age 35 or whatever, let's just assume that the positions these guys have been playing since college are typically their best positions in the NFL.
Yeah, I'm with you on the whole "can't be worse" thing. That shouldn't be the rationale for adding a player. Who cares if he's no worse? That's not what we're looking for. If he's not significantly better, what's the point?
If these players were "significantly" or "obviously" better your starters then they would not be available IN season. But there are reasons why the best coaches, like Parcells and Jimmy, constantly churned the bottom of their roster. It sends a message for one, and two, a player could be a better fit for your system than the one they were just in, or 3, the player just needed a change in environment. Taking small chances on former blue chip players is not much of a financial risk in this instance. Sometimes a new guy can be a spark on ST, or on O or D, you don't know unless you are continually trying to improve your weakest links.

We need some CB help, former first round pick. Couldn't be any worse than what we have, we should take a flyer on the guy.
Odd that mens here always wants the castaways from teams that don't want them and stuff.
Because a team never made a mistake in cutting a player in the history of sports?
You half a point. sign him up and add a bonus. jerra is rich and likes to sign mens especially if they half good names.

if he can help in this system why would you be so opposed to it?
You do have some type of understanding that players play different and excel differently in other schemes right? You do realize this isn't Madden and that the rating remains the same until you do your end of season simulations?

but i do half some understanding of players playing differently in other scams.
Take some of our defensive players. Please.
Many were journeymens and played that way. Now they play in dallas and play in a different scam. Some one say they play better, like "hey, that guy he play better than he did in Carolina." And I say to them, I say: "No, they play the same. Like a journeymans.
So yo mans who you want here might play better. we shall see. but i half the feeling that you will say to me, you will say: "Hey, he play better here, yes?" And I will say to you, I will say: "No, he still play like a chump." And you wont buy me no beer or expensive pizza from the concession stand but I half to be honest with yo mans who probably should be on the bench in the CFL. Or play semipro in the tri-state area.
As to Madden, I never played that game. I hear it is good. Do you think i could buy one cheap at the goodwill? My doctor who does not use a stetiscope he just talk to me say i need another hobby. Madden seem like a good idea. I thank you for that idea.
Let's be friends and stuff and IM with your football ideas. I half good ideas but people here are mean and I hestitate to state them because like I say they are mean.
Half a good day and keep up the good work.
The sad thing is we're probably a move or two away from the defensive line being a "real strength of the team" again.
It's fun to play GM. ~spinning in chair~
