I dont know if this is true but the rumors and opinions here are that he may not love the game of football. Also, they are saying he is soft and really emotional on how you speak to him and it might be a factor on the firing of Cox who was their dline coach.

Take the money everyone wants to give to Cooper and put something together for Clowney.

Or, Quinns money plus what they may entertain the idea of giving Jones, and go after Clowney.

I'd prefer Chris Jones but I dont see KC allowing him to walk.

From the fun to dream file....imagine signing Jones then Kinlaw is there at 17. Suddenly DT is a strength.

They wont though. Wont want to mess with the "#1 offense in the league" and Coopers money will prevent the defense from being competitive any time soon, if ever.

Jerry's new triplets...4, 21 and 19. Eating 40% of the cap. Sell them jerseys Jerry!!

Is Quinn the best we can do? Yea he got sacks but he was a massive liability in the run.
Beasley is only 245, so he isn’t going to be a tough point of attack guy against the run either. That's what I meant by "that type of player" - the pass rush specialist type.

The deal with Quinn is that we didn’t sign him hoping he’d be a full time starter. I believe we signed him as a situational pass rusher in the rotation, probably kicking Crawford or someone else inside on pass downs. I also don’t think Bennett was signed to be a full time player. Both would be extremely valuable making plays in part time roles, but after Crawford’s injury and no production from our drafted DT or the other young guys, our DL sucked so bad that Quinn and Bennett became vital DL pieces playing as starters or as much as starters. I’m certain that was never the plan.

He may be the type of guy that needs change. Look at what Quinn did here. We need to revamp our defense big time so I can see free agency and draft being more focused on defense.

I go the Shaq Barrett route.

Give him one year, 5-6 million

Did Nolan coach him?

I guess the unlimited bank is open. in case we all forgot, we have to plug holes at CB, Saftey, DT, DE, QB, WR, TE....

so is it worthed to sign Beasley and then get Fitzpatrick because we didn't have enough money?

I say with Smith and LVE we have enough at LB and should focus on other areas....this is not fantasy football..

Let's get better interior players first. Secondly, let's not waste time with players their original team has given up on due to questionable effort.

Vic Beasley is a guy whose best days are behind him and his best days were honestly not very good. He had one season where he had an inflated number of stats relative to how well he played (sacks really are the worst stat to use to judge a pass rusher), but other than that has been at best mediocre his entire career and the best part of his career is over.

go after Clowney.

I think we can get some really good players for less than Clowney or C Jones would cost.

Personally, Clowney is not someone i would bank on anyway. I think he plays harder when it benefits him. Other times, not so much.

Like C Jones but as you said can't see them letting him get away or us being able to afford him if they did.

No, that (Beasley) would be a major last resort,.. and I'm more for re-signing Quinn, or going after edge rusher Dante Fowler who had 11 sacks for the Rams in a one year deal.

Different types really. Quinn is more a pure 4-3 DE out of a 7 gap. They stood him up some in StL and it didnt work. Beasley is more of a 8, 9 gap stand up rusher. He can also play some SAM. More of a Leo type player. You can utilize both if yiu want to run a multiple front scheme. You really dont want Quinn standing up if you can help it
It doesn't matter if you stand up or not in the nickel. They're the exact same player.

Not a big fan of one year prove it deals. We have had too many of those, and not many really work out. Find players that will be here for 3 to 4 years at least. Keep the team chemistry from year to year for once.

The only person on a one year deal to prove it, should be Dak if he is tagged and not signed long term.
I think he proved it some last year, but then had times he showed he still needs improve. However the coaching and defense and ST's did not help. And I mean did not help the entire team or situations. Therefore the QB can't do it all.

Man if he is sensitive, I wish Jerry would have fired Marinelli and kept Taco for his supposedly same attitude. :muttley:

I get that one person's trash is another person's treasure but in Beasley's case you have to wonder what the heck is going on when Falcons did not have to say anything about him since he becomes an UFA in March yet they went out of their way to say "hey we in no way want this bad apple, so any team that wants him can have him". Better do your homework really well before you pursue him.
