The odds are favorable that the league would enforce the Personal Conduct Policy and suspend Smith. The 49ers and the league would follow-up by providing Smith with professional psychological assistance. The Shield would be protected. Any negativity would be minimized since Smith's employer and organization would be seen helping him obtain the medical assistance necessary to recover and return to work. It's a win-win.

It's funny how predictably bureaucratic our society has become. You're probably exactly right about what will happen. Reminds me of all the moron Twitter comments that are followed by a scripted apology.
