I read through this thread thinking I would get an update on how the kid was doing, but no...just banter about comparisons and why, etc... I would think someone would have an update on all the young receivers in practice -- anyone???

Has any of the coaches talked about the young WR's lately?

I don't know why your little 4 or 5 word posts are going to get you anything...it's not like you will WIN something with a big post count!

Thanks. I can't wait until training camp and the season. I'm sure the board really gets going during the season.

Since it is the offseason... Do we have a top ten posts from last year or anything -- like funniest or best analysis or anything....???

CowboysZone: Where everyone is too cool to root for an UDFA with potential.

Not me.... I would let Glenn go.... Hurd is probably expendable. We already have a 3rd WR in Crayton... maybe Austin could deep speed guy.

I am on the Amendola bandwagon.

TO - Super Freak WR
Witten - Pass Catching TE
Crayton - Good 3rd WR
Austin/Stanback - Deep Speed threats
Amendola - Quick. Big things come in small packages.

Both were short, slot receiver types at Texas Tech. Both returned kicks at Tech.

Exactly. But he's the steal of the draft -- er, undrafted free agency -- don't you know? ;)

I agree with you. I would rather let Glenn go and keep Amendola. I said in another thread that it is unlikely that Glenn will last a full season anyway. So why let go of a talent like Amendola for a guy that probably won't finish the season? I know Glenn has been a warrior for us in the past, but you have to think about the future, too.

I just bought my official Alain Karatepeyan jersey yesterday. Any word on how he's doing in OTAs?

I think he'll be All-Pro, Pro Bowler, offensive POY, MVP league and MVP of the SB. In the off season he will get his doctorate in Medicine and create a vaccine for colorectal cancer, and then get a Nobel Prize for that. As a side note he will date Jessica Simpson's better looking and more talented sister (or cousin if applicable) which will cause dissention on the team.

The Welker/Amendola comparisons come form them being a lot more than white.

Both were short, slot receiver types at Texas Tech. Both returned kicks at Tech. They were roommates and reportedly best friends.

But they are not the exact same player by any means.

Still anyone arguing they are being compared solely because they are white is not paying attention.

But what do I know... all I did was suggest we draft Wes Welker on day 2 out of Tech.

both are roughly the same size and both run in the low 4.6s

For the record, obviously no ones rooting against him, thats insane. Were just realistic. Theres about a 1-2% chance he catches on.

CowboysZone: Where it's cool to make up facts to bolster your comparisons.

Fact: Wes Welker was a UDFA in 2004, signing with the Chargers.

Fact: Danny Amendola graduated from The Woodlands High School in 2004.

If they were best friends/roommates at Tech, then it must have been when Welker was prepping for the Combine and Amendola was an early entry from high school the spring before his freshman year.
