Any reports of pass rushing capability?

To the OP, it looks like EXRockU is coming along quite nicely. I read that he has been relentless in practice. He would have sacked Stafford on the first play in the scrimmage.
Gary is primarily a run stopping DE IMO. Yes he can generate some pressures and sacks too, but I wouldn't expect him to light up the stat sheets. This defense is built to stop the run first and foremost. He will excel at his job.
Sam W, Lawrence and Liufau are all working as back ups. All have potential to be decent rushers. IMO Williams is the guy who needs to step it up the most. This is probably his last shot.
I think Lawrence will be surprising a lot of people when the lights come on. He has all the tools and is going to be given a chance, primarily on passing downs.
Can Houston, Wheat and/or Land make the team? I really don't know. Although, Wheat might be a core special teamer.
That's good to hear thank you for your reply (and everyone and thanks for not staring a fight about something nonsensical!)

I think many of us were dreaming of a pairing of someone like Micah with quinnen, that would have been a game changer certainly.

That said any news of outside pass rush? Good bad or ugly?

That and LB still worry me immensely, cuz those suck and good luck to the secondary regardless

Thx
The good news is we're no longer going to get gashed in the run game at will. That had been hard to watch for years.
Plus, we now have tackles that can rush from inside, too.

We had five-plus sacks in the joint practice with the Rams. Some of those were by backups against backups (I believe Isaiah Land had two), but I know that Eze had one, Quinnen had one and I think that James had one on a blitz (probably also against backups).
Yep, I heard the same that we were getting a lot of pressure both with first team and second

You know Erod, I am still immensely worried about our LBs. I love Overshown, but sometimes he gives me Jaylon Smith vibes, but he seems like such a good person so hope springs eternal. I saw one highlight where he blew up Hunter L, but seemed like didn't even look at the RB and he just sauntered on by.

Crossing fingers he can become like a poor man's Fred Warner presence in the middle there.

My favorite positions on Defense on Safety (Woodson my #1 all time), and LB. At least we got some good stuff at safety....it would be awesome if the new guys at LB show up.

Barring a major move being made, either Ezeiruaku will emerge off the edge or this pass rush will struggle. Gary isn't it, Williams is laughable and Malachi gets a mulligan.

I feel like you are severely underrating Williams’ 2.5 sack season. The pass rush is lethal regardless.

I always like to watch rookies during these August games. Especially the higher draft picks. You can usually tell early on if they have the goods.
I agree. Love seeing them this is what preseason is for which is why I don’t care if the starters play though I’m not against starters getting a drive or two.

I'm not really anticipating a win by beating Seattle at their place for game 1. It's already been reported that we'll use almost all backups getting the starting nods in that contest. Watching them put in a fairly respectable outing would likely be a reasonable expectation to embrace. (Just trying to be practical.)

You just described the entire preseason.
Yep -- I can easily deal with that being the case. Putting starters at risk of injury isn't exactly the most realistic way to handle things, imho. I'm hoping for reasonably good outings and maybe a win or two. We've gotta save our best efforts for the regular season and the playoffs. ;)

As far as our pass rushing abilities, I'm inclined to believe we'll do well enough to win whenever that's the main objective. We have enough strength in that area to be proud, I believe. There's no doubt that the regular season will be a great challenge. Lotsa tough teams to take on for sure, fingers crossed.

"if only" is on the minds of every Dallas fan for years. If only Jerry got a dominant DT when Micah was here.

I share your concerns. Pass Rush is at this point the weakness of the defense until we see otherwise.

I don't put much credence into reports of how one Cowboys is doing in practice against another. It just raises the question does one look good because the other is just bad? Gary rushing against the Cowboys OTs for example. Those are two of the easiest OTs he will face this season, no doubt.

People reported the pass rush looking good at times last year at camp so... Who really knows? We'll just have to wait and see.
