Any Tech fans have a feel for Dartwan Bush?

I'm not suggesting they move him to tackle. All I'm saying is that he reminds me of Randle coming out of college. Anyway he's a long shot to make the team but he's one of my pet cats to say the least. I'm looking forward to see how he plays tonight.

Fair enough. I see 1 spot between Bush, Wilson, Rayford and Gardner. Bush looks a little better than Wilson in the limited video that I've seen.

They say Rayford flashes but just hasn't found a place. Broaddus says that he thought they stole the guy going by his Colts tape. Doesn't know where the guy on the tape is.

He flashes under 3rd stringers in camp. But when it came to game time I felt that he just disappears. Its time to let some other youngster vie for a position such as Bush or Wilson.

Going by size, Rayford reminds me of Too Tall.

I had pretty high hopes for Gardner but looks like he could be derailed by injury even before he gets a chance. Maybe a PS guy. Rayford really needs to show something soon or he isn't long for the team. Might come down to Bush v Wilson and it seems like Wilson's only role is as a designated pass rusher. Haven't heard of him having any ability to do anything else.

Bush and Wilson both are strictly nickel rushers. Neither is going to be a run stopper.

Agree, neither one is likely to be a quality run defender, but Bush looks like he would be a better run defender than Wilson.

I like Bush better just for the fact that he's our find, as opposed to Wilson who already failed elsewhere. I think both make the team while Lawrence and Spencer recover. Once those two are back I can see us parting ways with Wilson first.

Selvie
Mincey
Crawford
Lawrence

It will be hard to carry 6 DEs.

Bush has a great motor and will go hard. Very undersized and wears down over course of a season.

Probably a nickel pass rusher in a 4-3.
Might be a really good player if he can gain some weight and fit in as an interior pass rusher on passing downs.

That's funny.

Also, I see that they have him listed at 265 pounds.

He played mostly DT or 3-4 DE in college and was drafted as one.
Not overly athletic but works very hard. Stays after it.
Might be best suited to play inside in a 4-3 long term like former Red Raider Montae Raegor.

He looks good at DE to me, but he needs some time in the system. He can bend and has good quickness. He's definitely more powerful than Wilson.

He would have to get much bigger to play DT. He could take DT snaps in the nickel, but they already have Mincey and Crawford doing that.

Bottom line is that I would like to see him stay with the team.

Me too. His issue is he lacks edge speed so isn't your ideal turn the corner guy. That's why he wasn't some ballyhooed guy even tho he was effective for Tech.
If he can get to 280 he could be a real nice 3rd down inside pass rusher.

Mincey and Crawford can play DT on passing downs. You need at least 4 DE's. Selvie, Lawrence and Spencer are the only true DE's who are cinch to make it. Unfortunately only Selvie is healthy. We might have to go long on the position just to have enough bodies to field a team for practice. DT's who are a cinch to make it are Melton, Crawford and Hayden. That gives us 6 players who are cinch:

Melton
Hayden
Crawford
Selvie
Lawrence
Spencer

and maybe 4 more spots for the rest:

Bass
McClain
Coleman
Bush
Wilson
Brent
Mincey
Gardner
Rayford
Boatwright
Ojomo
Okoye

Well Selvie wasn't our find either last year as well. But he turned out to be pretty good and surprised people. I think Wilson will do the same. He failed in different systems because he just didn't fit. His also the most athletic DE we have in terms of speed. He doesn't have to be an every down DE. All he needs to be is a passrusher and I think he can fit that bill quite well. But thats me.

If he is then more power to him. I will support him. I dont think Selvie is pretty good either, but it is what it is. This is the hand we are dealt with. If Wilson is our best weakside DE we are trouble to say the least. Lawrence cant come back any sooner if thats the case. Bush is a project, he looks promising from the practices I've seen him and from comments from people who saw him at Tech. We just have too many projects and not enough healthy bonafide DE's

Spencer stay on PUP and Okoye could stay on FFI. Brent could go on NFI also.
