Any theories on why Tony's throws were so high/off target today?

His broken pinky froze up?

The crazy wind blew every throw way high?

WRs .. maybe the new hard sod (a complete overhaul earlier this week, after HS playoffs there tore the grass to ****) on the Steelers field slowed our WRs down (I read that T. Choice had to change cleats to compensate for the rock hard field ....) ??

The Pittsburgh women in the stands just overwhelmed him? (I've heard they're not so bad up there ...)

I think that as the temperature drops, the ball becomes more slippery which could lead to the ball sailing on you - this was likely accentuated by some ongoing weakness in Romo's grip due to immobilization from the fracture.

What seems crazy to me is, Romo threw the ball hard and on target at the end of the half to tie it at 3. So, I can't understand how the team can move the ball so fast at times and then...nothing!

im pretty sure it had a lot to do with the drag coefficient being
inversely proportional to the thrust and trajectory.....or it could have
just been "one of those days".

who the heck knows...weather, injured pinkie, small hands, slippery ball,
take your pick.

I think it is just the inconsistency of being able to get a good grip due to the hand weakness - just a guess, though.

I also wonder if he was a little nervous without that cast on? Mentally it might have affected him some thinking about not following through hard enough worring that he might hit a helmet or something?

Usually when a ball sails like that (aside from the weather) it's because he did not really sling it hard towards the target and releasing it early causing it to sail...just a thought.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.. yeah !!

The algorithm, as I remember: The hair of the square plus the angle of the dangle equals the heat of the meat.

(I think I forgot another variable in there, can anybody refresh me? ..)

No no no. You have the formula wrong. It's:

The angle of the dangle is directly proportional to the length of the dingus.

He only had problems when he was throwing into the wind. I think it was making them sail on him. When we had the wind with us in the third quarter, there wasn't a problem.

Same thing with Roethlisberger in the 4th quarter when he had the wind. He passes were much more on target. When he was against the wind, his passes McNabb-skipped on the ground.

OK, according to the MIT site:

Angle of the square, plus the square of the hair, times the cube of the pube.. equals the heat of the meat ...

Any Einsteins out there to differ?

I love Romo. That said - my explanation is a simple one.

Romo just sucked today. He was terrible.

I have to agree on the wind. This is where being home helps a team. Pittsburgh knew what it is like on the field with the wind. That's why the Steelers elected to kick to start the game knowing that if they had to pass in the 4th quarter they would have the favorable wind conditions. Keeping that in mind on one of those 4th and short plays the Cowboys went for it, they should have tried for a field goal. I think Folk would have made it in when the Cowboys went for it the second time. He would have had the wind at his back.

Knee-jerk reactions...relax.

Personally-I fault the coaching staff for ill-preparing the team.

I don't have a problem with this. The wind was a big factor: it reversed the trend for Pittsburgh in dominating 3rd quarters, and it erased the trend for us in dominating 4th quarters. You could see it lift and bend the ball on some throws, and especially see it kill punts.

That said, Romo's got 2-3 real stinker games in him per season, and this really looked like one today. Can I just say for the record that the way this board turned on him after one game is pathetic and stupid? Alcohol and stupidity is not an excuse. And 'keeping it real' is a dodge for the drunk and stupid in this case.

How quickly can some people forget Brad Johnson? I'd say pretty quick based on some of the fan responses to Romo's "stinker".

I've seen a lot of starting QBs for the 'Boys and don't mind saying Roger had some pretty bad games, too. And he was the best QB to ever wear the star IMO. Sure, they may have been few and far between - but he had them, nonetheless. What's true of Roger is also true of all the great ones. I'm not procaliming Romo is great but he has shown some definite potential for greatness.

Romo does some things that very few QBs that have ever played this game can do. So far - I'll take the bad with the good. Romo is an unusual talent.

My only issue with Romo is that he's capable of straight-up losing the game for you every now and then. This can be said of all QBs, but with Romo he's so fantastic most of the time that when he's really off it's obvious.

Under most circumstances, the way our defense's been playing the last month or so that it's been healthy, we're a good enough team to overcome that. But against a quality opponent and in unusual circumstances, it can get you beat. Unfortunately, that's what we've got to expect in the playoffs.

That said, I love the guy, and we're very, very lucky to have him. Dumping on him for the game today is just really, really stupid.
