Any theories on why Tony's throws were so high/off target today?

How quickly can some people forget Brad Johnson? I'd say pretty quick based on some of the fan responses to Romo's "stinker".

I've seen a lot of starting QBs for the 'Boys and don't mind saying Roger had some pretty bad games, too. And he was the best QB to ever wear the star IMO. Sure, they may have been few and far between - but he had them, nonetheless. What's true of Roger is also true of all the great ones. I'm not procaliming Romo is great but he has shown some definite potential for greatness.

Romo does some things that very few QBs that have ever played this game can do. So far - I'll take the bad with the good. Romo is an unusual talent.

We're blind if we think trying to replace Romo is the answer. He is our franchise right now. But I think we're also blind if we don't acknowledge that Romo must find ways to adjust his game this time of the year or he'll never win a playoff game.

The whole season's been a mess, quite frankly. It all started when we blew the Giants playoff game last year, then lots of unanswered questions went around the national media for several weeks, then this same national media started pegging us as Super Bowl favorites, then the distractions of "Hard Knocks" came our way, then Wade has been feeling it as a lame duck coach, then Romo tried to adjust himself like Tom Brady instead of playing to his strengths, then once this team reached 3-0 they thought they were the kings of this world, then the Pacman incident happened, I can go on and on...

Actually-this entire year has been a roster coaster ride for this organization-I think it's already taken its toll. *shrugs* I guess there's always next year.:)

For all his bad play yesterday, Romo still had the Cowboys in position to win. I can't bang on him too much when a heretofore stellar defense lets up in the 4th and he's forced to throw. And I don't think Romo's ever played Pitt. So I can't blame him for his inexperience there. Next time he won't make the same mistakes.

This was a team loss all around, and as per usual I'll put it on the poor coaching, Garrett and Phillips. Phillips for wussing out on Pitt's last drive and Garrett for his predictable and really stupid play calling.

Garrett's not ready to be an HC. He's not even ready to be an OC. He simply doesn't have the experience. He has the smarts but not the experience.

Wade is as uninspiring a coach as I've seen with a winning record in the NFL. He just doesn't have what it takes to go the distance and frankly, unless he changes his preparation habits, exercises better judgment on who the best players are to put on the field, better judgment on who to take out, better judgment on which coach needs to be fired now, and quit treating Valley Ranch like a resort, he never will. One of those coaches that need to go is Wade Wilson. He hasn't helped Romo one little bit imo. He wasn't very good the first time around with the Cowboys. What the heck was Jerry thinking to hire him?

Jerry needs to get smarter real quick for 2009 as far as coaching hires go. You can tell the man is losing patience when he's calling out a really good player. Well, he's yelling at the wrong person. He should be looking at the top of the coaching tree and directing his ire there.

Romo was terrible today, but I guarantee that he and everyone else out there couldn't feel their hands.

Shoulda gone with the gloves. We also should have been throwing some more conservative passes. And also we could handle TO giving up on less routes. And also we could handle Jason Witten running the correct routes. Those would have been my suggestions.

im pretty sure it had a lot to do with the drag coefficient being
inversely proportional to the thrust and trajectory.....or it could have
just been "one of those days".

who the heck knows...weather, injured pinkie, small hands, slippery ball,
take your pick.

If only they would make the football aerodynamic in design... all in the football world would be peachy

:laugh1:
Agreed.... it was one of those games... Romo was off all day. Even that TD to TO was more luck than anything.

The cold was it.

Ball was hard.

Hand was weak.

Brain was disengaged.

Wade was layered.

Red was pulling it out of his butt.

I dont know if gloves would have mattered. he just had a bad day. But even still, if the special teams doesnt give them the field position we still might win.

but I have a hard time faulting witten. he has numerous injuries already, then he has his knee blown up and goes in for an xray comes right back out....then he goes in at the half and has an xray on his chest and comes back out.

Romo had a poor day, but the whole offense, especially the wr looked out of sync. Romo had to keep lining them up before the snap. I mean come on, 10 days to prepare and you cant lineup before the snap nearly every play.

I expect romo to bounce back.

as for owens. Yesterday showed exactly who and what he has always been. 3rd qtr he scores and taunts the other team with his T.O. pose and then gets into it with their defense. then the 4th qtr he disappears and has a tantrum on the sideline. And I wont even go into his jogging and then trying to catch up to the ball nonsense.

It is going to be 70 here sunday night. I expect Romo, chariots of fire, witten and williams to make plays this week at home. Roy Williams plantar fascitis concerns me and I hope he doesnt end up missing time in the future.

On the Int for the TD, Witten fell down. I am not so sure that pass was off target. ON the 4th down play Witten should have sat down in that wide open space.

Romo did not play well but there are two factors in the above 2 plays that made them worse - Romo had to throw early on both because Proctor got pushed back into him!

His broken pinky froze up?

The crazy wind blew every throw way high?

WRs .. maybe the new hard sod (a complete overhaul earlier this week, after HS playoffs there tore the grass to ****) on the Steelers field slowed our WRs down (I read that T. Choice had to change cleats to compensate for the rock hard field ....) ??

The Pittsburgh women in the stands just overwhelmed him? (I've heard they're not so bad up there ...)

Wind, cold and maybe just an off day. These are humans who play the game and not always will you be on top of your game. This loss hurts but at the least we still control our own destiny. Dallas and Romo need to pick themselves up, dust themselves off and get ready for the giants.

I was just telling my wife yesterday morning that Romo has not had the "signature bad game" yet this year and then it happened. Man, I'll be bummed about this one the whole week. It just seems that they gave this game away.

I love Romo. That said - my explanation is a simple one.

Romo just sucked today. He was terrible.
Yea i really dont understand the need for excuses. He just needs to bounce back next week hopefully thats what a great QB does. You take all the responsibility for playing like garbage and do everything you can possibly do to make sure that it doesnt happen again at least for a long while!

I say it's just one of those things that happen in NFL games, every year, where your QB simply has a bad game. It happens. To every QB. Every year.

Of course there are plenty here with the theory that Romo just plain sucks and should probably be cut and ridiculed for life because he dared to have a bad game.

he was working against the wind for 2 quarters, the 2nd and 4th

1st week with the cast off, so his hand probably stiffened

I don't know why the **** they allowed him to take his cast off
