He was found guilty on the original complaint. They dismissed the case on appeal when the his girlfriend couldn't be located. My bet is he'll be suspended.

In North Carolina, a defendant’s conviction is set aside (no longer guilty of the offense) as soon as they appeal the bench trial. They dismissed the case itself, but there was no guilty conviction to overturn due to the way the North Carolina legal system rolls.

actually there is not much the NFL can do to hardy. Even the 2 game suspension under the old rules (and since his incident happened then they cannot use the new ones- Judge Doty already slapped them down on this) would be appealed since he has sat out a year. And since Doty always rules for the Players I doubt the NFL will even bother in his case. No conviction now- nothing the NFL can base any further suspension on.

You could be right that they might not be able to do anything to Hardy, but the NFL can do something to any
team that signs him and that email has probably been sent. Hardy may be sitting because no team will
risk the commish' ire.

And does this equal guilt to you?

Is that your Mr. Goodell?

Logic and common sense don't come into play when dealing with Goodell. Hardy may very well be suspended even though the case was dropped. That is just the reality of today's NFL. Nothing they have done with Rice, AD, Hardy or McDonald has made any sense or been fair.

Goodell hasn't necessarily followed those guidelines. Even if he's not suspended, he has created enough doubt in teams heads that he might very well suspended him for an extended period of time. If teams are unsure about his status, they may want to wait it out and see what happens. By that point most teams will/could have spent all cap space leaving very few bidders and devaluing his market. Whatever the NFL is deciding on, they should do it quickly in fairness to Hardy, and AP as well.

I'm not going to lose 1 minute of sleep over whether the NFL is being fair to Hardy. He is
a convicted woman beater and in my book, he deserves to be banned for life from the NFL.
Now, he could probably get a job down at the local Taco Bell.

He better keep that to himself if the NFLPA catches wind of this and one of those over aggressive former players replaces D. Smith the NFL could be in some trouble labor relations wise.

Goodell and Crew are dragging their feet for a reason. The NC legal system already told the NFL that they were not handing over their records and Hardy's team has no intention of doing so. Since they have nothing they can currently nail him for, they are delaying as long as they can in the hopes that they can get their hands on something legit to take action on. They may well just try and suspend him anyway to delay further. The NFLPA will appeal, but it will buy them time to see if they can find that piece of evidence to nail him on. Just my opinion.

He's really the only free-agent big-name I would like. Has anybody heard anything about a potential landing spot for him? I know we just freed up 8 million and am wondering if it was for him?

You talking about Frank or Joe?

The NFL is not held to the same standard as a court of law though. All the Carolina local media made claims that there was evidence of a financial settlement between Hardy and the accused that led to her being impossible to locate and thus impossible to do a second trial. The NFL can (and have said they'll try to investigate this) still suspend Hardy if they believe there is evidence that he committed domestic abuse and then got out of the trial via hush money.

He was convicted on the initial charge but, on appeal Hardy had paid his GF to get lost so she didn't show up.
Doesn't make him innocent because he has money and an expensive legal team. Guy is a bumb...

The NC legal system already told the NFL that they were not handing over their records and Hardy's team has no intention of doing so.

From this report on NFL.com, Hardy has turned over evidence:

Greg Hardy meets with NFL officials in New York

    Greg Hardy
met with league officials Wednesday to make his case to come off the Commissioner's Exempt List and immediately be reinstated, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source with knowledge of the proceedings.

The defensive end left the meeting in New York with no immediate resolution, according to Rapoport, who added that Hardy turned over documents from his legal case.

If that is true (and some of the news articles have been wrong or slanted), its an indication Hardy has evidence backing his side of the story and he will miss little or no time in a suspension.

He's going to have to pass the commish's lie detector test that he didn't pay off his GF to get lost and keep quiet...

And you know he did this with certainty? Do you also have the Dez tape? Because from what I've seen you don't want him here either. You act as if you know more than the people intimately involved with this case yet you don't. You know what they say when you assume stuff right?

Well, I'm sure that Hardy gave them everything that was involved in the case. :) He was sitting pretty in this as soon as NC said they would not give their case evidence to the NFL.

This has been covered in detail in multiple threads and you are about 20 steps behind.
