That's ok, it's my understanding in Wade Phillips 3-4, the NT doesn't have to be a mountain of a man anyways...

Well, Jaamall Williams (spelling?) is 6'3, 348. He dwarfs Fergy. I hope you are right, however.

Walter Thomas could have helped us.

You are now the Zone Fanatic of the day.

That's unheard of love for a guy who might be on the practice squad at best.

He could have helped if he could play football. Forget the baggage. His talent is definitely in question.

lets put it this way, remember in 2002, we played the 3-4 in a way, but were too small with myers, etc,

in 2003, we put willie blade at nt, we were # 1 in defense, till darren woodson went out with his injury, in 2004 blade wasnt the same, we had to small nt, to play so played 4-3 alittle, but still to small at dt

in 2005 we got fergy= rest is history,

you have to have a big nose tackle at nt, he is taking on a center and a guard, or you will get pushed around, and run on,

you guys should've listened to the ticket. mickey spagnola kept guessing walter thomas for every pick. for the last pick, they were joking the cowboys forgot they still had a pick because everyone left after the 1st pick.

then they left a postit note to draft walter thomas. JJ picked it up, read it, laughed, and shoke his head NO. :banghead:

Someone on extremeskins has a link to his ******* page. Looks like an outstanding young man and true leader of the community. I don't see how anyone would question his character.

I was really intrigued by his size but he's immature. I have serious doubts about him maturing enough in a short period of time to play well in the NFL.

Walter Thomas, the Most Famous Undrafted Free Agent Ever: A Saint?

Posted May 1st 2007 12:31PM by Tom Mantzouranis
Filed under: Saints, NFC South, NFL Draft, NFL Rumors, New Orleans, NFL Free Agency

Walter Thomas is an enigma . He's a 370-pound defensive tackle who can do backflips and run a 4.9. He also benches 500 pounds and squats 600. He was an OT and DT in high school, was highly recruited, until trouble hit. He's adored and wanted by fans of every team, yet comes from the powerhouse NW Mississippi Community College and was arrested on conspiracy to commit robbery. If you look at his ******* page (a bit NSFW-ish), you'll see the following comment:
Big homie....whats the deal...? I heard you made that move...i feel you, ...get out there &grind like you know how, ball til you fall! We ready to go get them jerseys &swang slab all the way to them games!
Is "that move" a contract with the Saints? Also, an aside: what does "swanging slab" entail? It sounds like tough work. Anyway, though nothing has been officially announced, members of Saints Report have done some sneaky URL manipulating and found a roster page dedicated to Thomas with the rest of the team's confirmed undrafted free agent signings. It's blank besides a picture and some basic information, but it does note that Thomas was "Acquired - FA07."

It says something fascinating about the convergence of the sports blogosphere and the increasing popularity of football that a player with two games of community college experience could go from obscurity to a buzzword after a small Texas vs. Nation all-star game, with hype spreading instaneously from scouts to serious fans and draftniks.

The biggest question mark involving Thomas so far has been his past issues with the law, but an undrafted free agent brings no risk, and a player with Thomas' skills, if matured, can offer a lot to the Saints' defense. I think a bigger issue is Thomas' lack of relevant game experience. Sure, Thomas started out at Oklahoma St., proving he's got "big-school ability." But two games at community college is not a good barometer for NFL success. We'll see what he's made of at the Saints' training camp in Millsaps, a boot camp in oppressive heat designed at eliminating anyone not fully committed to the cause. Then we'll know if, physically and mentally, he's prepared for the grind.

so let's see, he's immature, is only going to get bigger at already being 370, played in what amounts to a year of college ball at a Community College, has character issues

I know he has great potential, but the potential to bust is just as great
