Anybody else think Troy Aikman was out of line?

We all know Troy does a great job of being objective (too good sometimes) but that's just man man trying to do his job the way he feels he has to. Knowing Troy from his days with us, he will do everything he can to do the job as well as possible.

BUT....

After that second PI call he said "You kinda understand what the Ravens were talking about" He just insinuated that the NFL may have a conspiracy for the Cowboys too. THAT was over the line! The Ravens players were fined for saying it and I am still steamed at Troy for it.

If anyone has the game Tivoed, please cut it out and send to Shango @ thedallascowboyshow . com if possible. It happened sometime after the second PI call.

I saw you mention something in your video last night. And to be honest I dont remember anything Troy or Buck said the entire game. I was so zoned in on the game itself

I'm probably wrong, but I thought his comment was in relation to an instant replay review. Basically said, he doesn't know what to expect from the refs when the reviews came back. Maybe he made more than one comment.

Either way, I was shocked by the comment, but didn't think it was an anti-Cowboy comment, more of a rip on the officiating in the league and I didn't expect that from Aikman. I wonder if the league will take to fining announcers if they question the refs.

I'm sure he said this right before the snap of the next play after the Watkins/Johnson non-PI call. I think he has the right to say what he truly believes while calling the game but you cannot say anything about the NFL possibly cheating for a particular team.

It just hurts that he would say that about his former team.

I guess we have our own Tiki!

if anyone else said it would it be an issue? it just seems people get overly sensitive cause troy doesn't worship the cowboys at every step.

his job - today - is an announcer. he's not on the cowboys payroll for PR and he's not still on the team. troy always did the best he could at what he does, this is no exception. i just find it ironic people will let his "bad" comments get under their skin and say how terrible he is even after that comment was after 10 compliments to the cowboys. those are ignored.

just an observation on how a lot of people react to troy - nothing about you shango. : )

I think I would because I let all those other comments roll off my back. Even when he was so sure Hurd was out of bounds.
But since the Ravens players got fined for saying it, I don't think the announcers can get away with it. It just personally hurts a little more knowing it was one of my heroes saying it.

I agree, I think they were having an off day, I usually enjoy Aikman and Buck, yesterday though was just.... not clicking or something.

Plus Ice...Before, I kinda had Troy's back because I always knew what kind of person he is. He will try to be perfect and sometimes that comes off cold. It never bothered me until that one statement yesterday.

Don't say the NFL is cheating for us as an announcer....My Dad said it my entire childhood and I just can't take it anymore.

pretty sure we'll get them again this week too, unfortunately

if I could get the radio broadcast to sync with the HD broadcast, I'd do that in a heartbeat

I'd pay money to hear Brad Sham every week.

I would too...I'd give DirecTV another 10-15 bucks a game if I could hear our local announcers in lieu of the network call

I got the ticket for years before i moved to a town that had sports bars big enough to get all the games. I too would pay a couple hundred extra bucks to get the Boys broadcast.

If you get Sirius, you get all the NFL games with their local broadcasts.

In the past, I've synched up the broadcast with my DVR and watch the game like that. (cough, Bryant Gumbel, cough)

I like Aikman and Buck, though, so this game didn't bother me.

I've been saying that for years. It's my only complaint with DirecTV, the slight lag makes listening to others doing the game is impossible.

I've read in the past that the networks are the ones that are vehemently against it. I understand their POV though. Imagine how few people would listen to the ESPN clowns pimp ABC's shows if there was another option. I am somewhat suprised that the NFLN hasn't tried to work something out with DirecTV using SAP for the games they carry. I really like the preseason games that have each team's radio guys for one half.
