Anybody else think Troy Aikman was out of line?

Yesterday was one of the few times I actually thought about turning the TV to mute. The comment about the PI really bothered me and so did the replay comment.

However, I do notice one thing. The annoucers always play up the team that seems to have the momentum and give them praise. So I don't worry about what annoucers say typically. I was just shocked that Aikmen did not realize that both players are entitled to the same space in niether has established position.

I think I would because I let all those other comments roll off my back. Even when he was so sure Hurd was out of bounds.
But since the Ravens players got fined for saying it, I don't think the announcers can get away with it. It just personally hurts a little more knowing it was one of my heroes saying it.

yea, that i totally understand. good follow up and i see where you're coming from!

I got the ticket for years before i moved to a town that had sports bars big enough to get all the games. I too would pay a couple hundred extra bucks to get the Boys broadcast.

Truth be told...It tough being objective. As a great American once said, "If you're not with us, you're against us" :scram:

I love Aikman, but I hate him as an announcer. He tries too hard at being impartial and fails. I find myself constantly saying things like, "**** Aikman," and, "What's his problem!" during a game. Why oh Why did Madden have to leave Fox? I wish someone else would do our games, 'cause Aikman is pissing me off.

Some more bad news....Doesn't Fox have the Superbowl this year? DumbBuck and Aikman are the "A" team.

Was Aikman horrible yesterday? Absolutely, out of line, nope, he is entitled to his opinion, no matter how stupid it is.

The only thing I thought was borderline out-of-line was when he said was when he brought up the trash talking both teams got into this week after Ware got the roughing the passer call after driving Kitna into the game.

I wonder if Ware thought Kitna still had the ball?

I think he can say what he wants and I'll just cringe.....But when he made that comment about the Ravens....It did not have anything to do with the game and you NEVER insinuate that there is a NFL conspiracy. I'm calling around for people that taped the game so I can post it. I don't want to hear any announcer say that the refs are cheating for the boys...EVER. I don't care who you are.

I have the game.

If you can tell me with great accuracy (I am at work so I can't look at the video) when he made the comment, I will throw it up on Youtube.

I don't remember the comment.

I have never complained about him, but yesterday was terrible

he may go out of hsi way to seem unbiased, but yesterday him and Buck just came off as stupid

I didn't listen... as soon as I heard who was announcing I pushed the mute button... but some of us have know for awhile how truly AWFUL those 2 are :ralph:

Sounds like I'm alone on this (Big surprise) but nothing irritates me more than hearing 'homer' announcers...I like that Troy won't hesitate from calling it as he sees it, regardless of history...Journalism, whether it's broadcasting or otherwise suffers from bias far too much.

Keep at it Troy

Aikman and Buck aren't TOO bad, but I agree w/ the assessment that Troy tries too hard not to come across as a homer! The way those two were harping on the so-called "questionable" PI calls made me sick to my stomach :blech: . I've seen worse calls go against Dallas so I shed no tears for Detroit-tough *** luck, I say! Buck and Aikman wouldn't let it go, though, and I have to believe that's what irritated so many of us yesterday :grrr: .

I agree with you. Troy job is to call it as he sees it he owes that to the fans of all NFL teams he is covering. Troy gives Dallas kudos as well during the game but his job is not to drool over the Cowboys if he did that then he would not be part of the #1 crew.

I agree too, but the NFL will fine if you say that their is a "conspiracy" to cheat for a particular team. They fined the Ravens players for saying it and Troy should not have said that. He can express his opinion all he wants and I can like it or not as a viewer, but Troy is just doing his job. However...the statement where he said that understand what the Ravens were saying....was over the top. You can't say those things if you are a coach, player, owner or announcer.

I dont have a problem with him not homering for the team...I have a problem with him being stupid...and yesterday he was stupid

and for the record, this is the first time I have ever complained about his announcing of a game

Offtopic, but has anyone else notice how truly awful that smiley is? ;) They throwing up on the star! Maybe we need to replace that with a Commander or Eagle symbol.

Im not a big Troy fan because he tries to hard to come off as not being a homer.

That said, I didn't think there was a problem with the comment.

I too thought it was in regards to a replay and hes right. The league messes up so much on replay that they shouldn't even have it.

I didn't think Barber got the 1st down on the reviewed play in the game but they gave it to him.

Yeah, good point...Perhaps an oversight?

I hope Troy Aikman never calls another Cowboys game.

Why?

*Not because he irritates me
*Not because he is anti-Cowboys
*Not because he tries to hard not to be a homer
*Not because I think he stinks (I think he is the best color guy out there)
*Not because he is stupid and makes stupid comments

But because I get weary of these threads after EVERY SINGLE COWBOYS GAME he covers.

I cannot think of one game he has done for us that we didn't have a "did Troy irritate you too" thread.

Gracious, I know I can just ignore these threads, but really, what is said in these threads that hasn't been complained about a million times before? And when does it not break down to the same old camps?

*The Troy hates the Cowboys camp
*The Troy is not a good color guy camp
*The Troy tries to hard to be perceived as not a Cowboys homer camp
*And the Troy is fair, objective and good camp

We know how it all turns out in the end, how can it be any fun to just go through the same stuff over and over again?
