Problem with just using the eye ball test in football is that the errors are more magnified than another sport where consequences are less severe.People here use the eye ball test in lieu of data.
For instance: for a LG, most of the time we hardly know what they’re doing, because out of 65 plays they’re probably playing to a standstill 60 of them. Let’s say for 3 others they pancake their defenders and the other 2 they’re caught off balance and it leads to strip sacks.
Well 63 of the 65 they either won or were even for a percentage of 96.9%. That’s pretty good. But the eyeball test will tell you that they suck because they gave up the 2 strip sacks.
Same thing for defenders. They make 2-3 splash plays and everyone loves them. But they could be getting rolled the rest of the time. But because the playcall is away from them, their errors don’t show up on TV as often.
