Just did a little research:

Both Lacewell and Jim Garrett resigned in 2004.. They both are back, advising. It's not just Lacewell back in his ear...

Maybe that's what Parcells was referring to when he said that nobody would know that he was here, after he left.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and the Garrett family are very close. Jim Garrett scouted for the Cowboys for 22 years—on and off from 1974 until his retirement in 2004. Jason’s brother John is the team’s tight ends coach, and another brother, Judd, is the team’s assistant director of pro personnel. And the bond between the Garretts and Jones is tighter than mere employee-employer.

Don’t buy into the caricature of Jones. Family and personal relationships drive many of his decisions. In 2007, Judd Garrett’s wife died suddenly. Jones made his personal jet available to the family. The plane was used at least 10 times—and Judd worked for the Rams at the time, not the Cowboys.

Jim Garrett worked with and had friendships with the biggest names in coaching. He has countless stories of the old days, stories he has shared with his boys so many times they can tell them themselves. The tales are remarkable, both for their content and their long-lasting impact. Directly and indirectly, purposefully and not, all those stories have formed the backbones of Jason’s coaching career.

It ain't just Lacewell....
