Anybody think Hurd has entrenched himself in the top 3?

Well, I do.

I was not sold on Hurd last year, but it seemed that Hurd stepped it up a bit Saturday and Crayton took a step back.

(And, anyway, what is the deal with Glenn? is he healthy?)

Right now I see it as T.O., Glenn and Hurd
followed by Crayton, Stanback and Austin.

And I sure hope we can keep 6 WRs, otherwise, Crayton could be the odd man out because Stanback and Austin are younger and seem to have more enthusiasm.

Crayton is clearly our #3, and he's proven that over the last couple years. 516 and 4 last year, along with the surest hands on the team, make him a contender for a long term deal, considering he's a FA. Sam has game, but he's a pup, and has a way to go. BUT, he has a place in the NFL if he keeps it up, JMHO.

If it works then fine... but I would like us to get Stanback in there early... let him learn on the run(our very own Colston)... I hope.

selling the drama, buying the hype.

crayton was the #1 #3 WR out there in the NFL last year but now cause some sexy fad is going around, we must promote hurd ahead of years of "learning" by crayton and get all smug.

hurd could be #2 at times but he can also play #4 at times depending on hwo the season unfolds.

when crayton can't play anymore let's demote him. till then let's keep growing from within and if hurd can beat crayon on the field, great. but he's not done that yet. not as consistantly as crayton has.

let's give that some credit.

I think the offensive minds at Valley Ranch will elevate Hurd. JMHO

For the naysayers, let's revisit this post/topic on opening day.

Then my premise will be proven correct! (throwing my head up in an evil laugh)

I think you are jumping the gun, and just because people think you are wrong, doesnt mean they will be mad if Hurd gets elevated. They just want it to be the right decision, not just because.

No I think Hurd has proven that he deserves a shot on the roster, but Crayton has had the benefit of proving himself a viable 3rd option for a while now.

I just wish they'd give Jamaica Rector more of a shot (I know, I know, you are all thinking "oh brother, no big surprise there!"). This guy's got great hands and never shys away from making the highlight grab; he just needs to improve his route running IMO. I feel like this guy is a great untapped resources with loads of potential. Think Tony Romo, but on our recieving corps.

When he doesnt make the team, are you going to get a new screen name and sig?

I am kind of worried about that, and a bit puzzled. He's been more of a positive then any of these new guys yet they apparently have more skill than this guy has. If its there it hasn't shown itself on the field.

But to answer your question, no I will keep my sig and name.:starspin

Don't think Cowboys aren't comparing Hurd against Crayton. Crayton, a proven #3 WR is a FA after this season & Cowboys will have to spend some money to keep him. If they believe Hurd can replace Crayton, then they can use that money elsewhere and Crayton could become the trade bait needed to get a decent pick or to be traded for that desirable CB we need.

Not saying Cowboys would let Crayton go, but it certainly something to think about as the season progresses and the trade deadline approaches.

Crayton is clearly the better of the two.

This is not based on performance because Crayton has outperformed most #3WR's in the NFL the last couple seasons.

bingo.

very good analysis, and I agree. However, I could see the scenario of signing Crayton, and keeping Hurd because of TG's injury situation and age, plus getting a WR in the draft next year in the first round

It will take more than one preseason game for hurd to over take Crayton as the #3 WR.

Hurd did a very good job but Crayton is the #3 WR and there is no doubt what so ever about it.

I don't think he has passed Crayton, but I do see him getting some time this season. He is definately #4 without question.

There is no question Hurd is auditioning for a job as #3 or #2 further down the road.

But to answer your question, no Hurd is not #3 or close. It does bode well that Wade/JG are seeing them as equals. Let the better man win.

Yeah, Crayton is the odd man out. Sure.

Do you just post stuff like that to yank chains?
