Anybody think Hurd has entrenched himself in the top 3?

We are blessed to have a #3 with the talents of Crayton. Sam Hurd is a gamer and will definitely help us this season and into the future, but Crayton has earned that #3 WR spot. Crayton could be gone after this season, but until then, I'm glad he's on our side and he's only going to get better. I can't wait for TGlenn to come back. And who knows what Stanback will provide one day? And, oh yeah, there's this dude named Terrell. We are loaded at WR.

Crayton is the #3 receiver regardless of anything.

I think if Terry Glenn gets hurt and stays hurt Hurd would then move to the #2 receiver.

Hurd will be the #4 or #2 at all times unless Crayton gets hurt imo.

Don't think Cowboys aren't comparing Hurd against Crayton. Crayton, a proven #3 WR is a FA after this season & Cowboys will have to spend some money to keep him. If they believe Hurd can replace Crayton, then they can use that money elsewhere and Crayton could become the trade bait needed to get a decent pick or to be traded for that desirable CB we need.

Not saying Cowboys would let Crayton go, but it certainly something to think about as the season progresses and the trade deadline approaches.

we're headed into needing a WR badly.

and people are saying we could let the best one we've drafted in over a decade go because Hurd caught a few balls?

PA-LEEZ!

Well, I do.

I was not sold on Hurd last year, but it seemed that Hurd stepped it up a bit Saturday and Crayton took a step back.

(And, anyway, what is the deal with Glenn? is he healthy?)

Right now I see it as T.O., Glenn and Hurd
followed by Crayton, Stanback and Austin.

And I sure hope we can keep 6 WRs, otherwise, Crayton could be the odd man out because Stanback and Austin are younger and seem to have more enthusiasm.

you are outta your mind

David

Crayton is the more polished of the two receivers but Hurd clearly has more upside....lets leave it at that.

Sam Hurd isn't supplanting Crayton out of that 3rd receiver spot... People fail to realize of much of a big game receiver Pat has become for the Cowboys. Look back at the games against Arizona, Giants and the Seattle playoffs... How can people forget the beautiful bomb he caught against those Foreskins back in 2004.
:lmao2:

Yeah, more enthusiasm in not making the team. Austin has been given his opportunities in preseason but has not made the most of it. He sure didn't show much enthusiasm on his lack luster route running and dropped passes. I think the Cowboys wanted to test him this preseason to see if he is worth keeping. Considering Thompson is back and much improved at returning kicks (I saw a few jukes and even a spin move against the Texans), Hurd is challenging for the #3, and Stanback is already making plays, Austin just hasn't provided anything in the preseason that makes you say, "Wow, this kid can be something in this league," which is why I think HE is the odd man out.

Crayton>Hurd

but I like the San Antonio kid..:starspin

Crayton has the best hands on the team, which is why he's the perfect fit for #3. If Glenn stays healthy (knock on wood) then Hurd will never crack #4, however if Glenn is not ready or reinjures, Hurd has an outside chance of jumping to #2 only because he's a little faster. Crayton just rocks as the #3 man because he gets to the sticks and catches anything in range. JMO

YES!!!!Hurd will replace injured glenn by week 5.

Yeah, Crayton is the odd man out. Sure.

Do you just post stuff like that to yank chains?

Only yours.:) You seem the most exciteable.

In 2006, of all receivers thrown at an average of 2 or more times per game (minimum 32 passes), Patrick Crayton had the highest catch % in the NFL.

Sam Hurd has a ways to go to supplant that.

I was happy to see Hurd playing well. But Crayton is the #3.

I think Hurd has locked up the #4 wr spot and he looks like he has improved since last year. All good things he has earn himself a roster spot and moved up the depth chart from last year

I fail to grasp how Crayton has taken a step back. I didn't see the game, but I read a lot about a play where he was open, would have had a TD if the ball was delivered correctly. Crayton is very talented - he isn't a speedster, but he is very difficult to tackle, usually breaks one, maybe two, has an eye for the sticks and can catch anything. Good things happen when the ball is in his hands.

Hurd and Crayton are very similar receivers, not too fast, but quick, know how to get open and have great hands

I'd give the nod to Crayton due to his experience and productivity

How the hell did Crayton take a step back and Hurd a step forward?

OK Hurd had one good catch last season and a decent pre-season game and He is over Crayton. The same crayton that beat the Commanders on that long pass by Test, the same crayton that was getting crucial first downs and TD passes. Crayton has proved He's the clear #3 over the last 3 seasons.

it's the IGS at work (instant gratification society). just nod and let it go.

No way. Crayton is twice the player that Hurd is. Remember Hurd coughed up the ball last week on a very weak hit.

Stop jumping around from one player to the other. Hurd is a journeyman at best. Isaiah may be special but it will take a couple of years.

I agree...Hurd will be a nice third or fourth reciever for pretty much his entire career, but for now he stays firmly beind Crayton.
