Anyone Else Like Malik Davis

Did anyone else like Malik Davis in the small sample size we got to see him the last couple years? I thought he looked good most times when he got the chance. I was looking forward to seeing him more when it was obvious Zeke just wasn't the same. But they seemed to think otherwise. I was really looking forward to seeing him after Pollard went down in the Niners playoff game. Yet again, they thought otherwise. Just thought he'd be in the top 3 RB's, but most here seem to think he's not gong to even make the team this year. Did he look that bad in pre-season? I don't watch until the games count, so never see any pre-season games.

For sure, but its a numbers game at the moment and think Rico won that spot. Hopefully Davis ends up on the practice squad and can stay here.

I thought he was OK, but my honest feeling was Rico had the edge on him.
That's how I veiwed it, too.
It will be interesting to see how the Cowboys RB situation takes shape to start the 2023 season.
Don't forget ... Ronald Jones - despite his injury and suspension - is still in the mix.

No, he's not. If the injury didn't take him out, the suspension did.

Wise man.

To your question: Malik is solid, nothing more.

I'll add: Over the past 20 Super Bowl championships...most had RBs that were...solid but nothing more. Run game is mostly about the blocking upfront.
2.0 seconds solid up front...

I like Davis. He was my pet cat last year. I’m still rooting for him but I think he’s going to get cut. As happy as I am for Deuce showing up in the preseason, I am equally disappointed that Davis didn’t do better. I hope we keep Davis in some capacity. Practice squad maybe, hopefully.

Nope. There is nothing special about Davis that would make me think he needs a roster spot.

The didn't draft Deuce to not play him. Malik looked like he was tripping over his two feet last night, had a few good runs in the second half against 6th string players. Interesting to see what they do with him, practice squad would be ideal

Think he irrefutably was the #2 RB coming into camp, but not by a lot. Dowdle overcame the distance, I would guess, by earning a stronger rep in pass protection. Then, when Deuce showed what he showed, and being the unique asset he is, that's meant that the #3 slot was already claimed. Still think there's a fair chance Davis gets asked back to the practice squad b/c Dowdle's injury history has been what it's been, not to mention... and it really has been given the soft-shoe treatment... Dowdle made two fairly significant errors (fumble, and whiffed on ST resulting in blocked punt, of course) in the first two preseason games that plausibly won't matter until they matter... and they will matter if he makes another fairly significant error early in the season.

So the same thing can be said now for Dowdle... he's apparently going to be the #2 RB, but not by a lot... Davis may yet be a factor in the 2023 season ultimately.

i thought EXACTLY like you did until I seen him this preseason. Thought for sure he would be able to handle the heavy load part of running, but no not after seeing him this preseason. goes down way too quick and cannot find any holes. weak - would be really surprised if he is not cut

All you need to know is, he was taken off the field in passing situations, they don't trust him in pass protection.
