Anyone else that play was designed to hurt Romo?

I've been watching football for over 35 years and I've never seen a play like that. Free's man engaged him and then backed off on purpose just in time for a perfectly timed blindside. Meanwhile the man that backed off looped around and buried the crown of his helmet straight into Romo's ribs. They did it to Romo two years ago when they drove him into the turf and I thing they tried to hurt him again on that play. That play looked designed all the way and the shot to the ribs looked intentional to me.

No free was engaged and the guy backed off and if you watch the LB he takes a direct angle at free and nails him while free was looking at the DE after free goes down the LB that hit him and the DE went straight for Romo. I agree that play was designed to take romo out.

Yup, when I saw it in real time, I thought to myself Free really sucks. Then I saw the replay. The DE engages Free then holds contain and the line backer completely blitzes the crap out of Free, blindsiding the crap out of him. Pretty dirty IMO.

I wish our defense would design some plays to hurt Eli. No, I kid, but they could at least rough him up a little more.

The Giants like rolling up on ankles. They did that to Romo in the second half when they got the late hit flag. That's what happened to DeMarco a few years ago. They're a dirty team.

Yup they actually got away with rolling on Romo's leg prior to the one that was flagged. And don't forget their faking injury to stop the no huddle

Dirty cheats

I actually had the same thought as a few of you. We have hits on QBs, hits on defenseless receivers, to me there should be a call for hit on defenseless linemen. I've seen DL crash one side and have the LB swing around on the other, but I have never seen a defensive player come from the blindside and tee off on an OL like that. I don't think it was designed to hurt romo just a dirty shot on Free

It was an unusual looking play....hard for Free to do anything there, but he sure got his clock cleaned on it. Good design by the Giants.

The hit on Free was a bizarre play.

we missed about 5 sacks when Eli easily sidestepped the incoming rusher and threw a dart to the WRs,he played well despite the INTs.

Free got blasted! I have to confess that I did burst out in laughter when I saw him shoot back like a cannon ball.

That was an odd play to say the least. They either designed a play to get to romo or Free said something awful to the LB and he took offense to it.

I can't believe that is legal. Why don't more teams do the same? You use an LB to take out a lineman and free the DE.

I wish they would I can't stand that guy, he's as lucky as a QB that I've ever seen in my life. I know he has 2 rings and I was reminded of that constantly by one of buddies (Giants fan) tonite. It's always good to watch our matchups with the Giants with him because he gets so mad over one loss that he won't speak to me for a week haha.

That's my point. I've never seen that before and then the guy buries the crown of his helmet in Romo's ribs. Had he just sacked him, I would say great play but the way he went after the ribs looked intentional to me. When you add in thos two aspects, it makes me think the whole thing was intentional and the goal was to hurt Romo just like they did two years ago. It got them the win and screwed Dallas' season and I think they tried to do it again.
