Anyone else that play was designed to hurt Romo?

That was a chicken crap play and the Giants defender that hit Romo lead with the crown of his helmet. But, as usual, the Refs did not call a damn penalty. I bet that if it had been Brady, Rodgers, or Brees that got hit that way, every ref on the field would have thrown their flags and Micheals and Collinsworth would have talked about nothing else the rest of the night. Funny how they said not a word about that illegal hit since it was on Romo...

I actually thought it was a great play by the Giants in terms of design and execution.

you guys are over thinking it because Romo got hurt on the play. We have seen LBers crash the line and DL stunting and crashing to free someone up on almost every play

We have seen the bolded, we've never seen this stunt the giants pulled. Maybe someone needs to post the vid

Serious? Everyone does it.

I guess I watch mostly Cowboys games. I don't remember us doing this (I could be wrong).

This is the first time I see such a clean hit on the OL. Not sure what Free could have done. He was engaged with the DE and was suddenly blindsided by the LB.

I bet if you took a poll of d lineman around the league Romo is the qb they would most like to cheap shot. Obviously the bounty system lives.

I have never seen that play before and I have been playing and watching football for 35 years. You are not allowed to crackback block anymore and there is no way a defender can run away from the QB to blindside an OL. Defenders cannot grab and pull an OL off his block and this is ten times worse.

I guess I am confused at what is allowed with hitting the QB.

The defender lowered his head and hit Romo in the ribs.

I thought hitting with the crown of the player's helmet was a violation of the rules.

This is the defense version of the wham block that the offense uses.

It is. However, we're talking about Romo and the Cowboys here. When in doubt the refs don't throw the flag.

The LB had a hole to blitz. But he straight B-lined Free and Free didn't see him

Yeah that's what I don't understand...blindsiding a player without the ball doesn't accomplish much.

Unless he was told to take out Free which also doesn't make sense because he's our worst OL

@Kilyin has the game up in the news zone so I rewatched the play. On second look Murray did a piss poor job of holding is block on Kiwanuka

Thought it was a well designed play.I do agree with those questioning why there was no flag. In general. The hit didn't bother me. Looked like a good hard football tackle. At least how I was always taught to hit. But with today's rules? Who knows?

Actually thought free played a heck of a game. No penalties and he kept his side pretty clean. I was very happy with his play. Actually I thought he looked very agile and played with good technique

The sucker lowered his head and hit Romo in the ribs with the crown of his helmet. It is an illegal hit period and would have been called if it had been any other QB. It is open season on Romo BECAUSE the flags are not thrown. To the other teams, a fine is no big deal compared to the damaged injuring Tony Romo would do to Dallas...

That play came straight from Madden. I guess if it's in the game, it really is in the game.

I am with the group that thinks this was a BS play. Loops, stunts and such are a part of the game but this was way more than that. I have never seen a LB blitz with the sole intention of blindsiding an OT before. I have seen LBS loop around to take the Lineman out of the play or try to cause confusion but never get a five yard running start with the sole intent to blindside a lineman that is engaged with another defender. Anyone claiming this happens all the time, I would be interested to see it. I been around football for 35 plus years and never saw it before.
