Anyone else to add to Urban, Roman, and Riley list?

The thing about him is I don't think there is a more perfect guy in this league besides maybe Payton to call plays for this offense.

He would put the players in the best position for success.
Ehhh

He needs a dynamic running QB to be effective. Dak can move, but he's not Lamar lol.

I'm going to say:

-Defensive guy so Jerry can sell keeping Kellen around
-Former HC (i.e., retread) so Jerry can sell 'experience' to the fans
-Not too much in demand, so won't rock the boat and will let Jerry take all the spotlight

So, Steve Spagnuolo, Jim Schwartz, Gus Bradley, Chuck Pagano

Anyone to add to that list?

No retreads is really my only requirement. I don't want some other teams Jason Garrett.

McCarthy is a big no from me. The guy has had Favre and Rodgers and has very little to show for it in a division he was favored in almost every year.

Urban... Great leader but what will X's and O's look like?

Roman... X's and O's will be great but he kinda gives me a Wade Phillips vibe. Maybe not as Golly Gee Wiz as Wade. I could be wrong here though.

Riley.. I just feel like this job may still be too big for him and he hasn't done anything at the College level besides show that he is a fantastic play designer. Also, why would he want to leave that cush job?

He can go beat up on bad teams every year and get a free trip to the playoffs and everyone will praise him for it.

While you may not like the thought, I don't think you can rule out Ron Rivera.

They's have to trade picks for Payton, but its worth it, assuming Sean is even interested.
I think Josh McDaniels will be a stud HC at some point, he made the mistake of hitching his wagon to Tebow in Denver.
Urban - would be my guy too.
Riley is the offensive specialist that Jerry hoped Garrett would be.
Harbaugh coached 4 years in the NFL, was in 3 championship games and was a play away from winning a superbowl... Who cares if he's a jerk.
Saban- I think he is probably the closest coaching style to Belicheck, and the QB saddled him in Miami. I don't love the age either, but I just want 5 years of being a contender.
Swinney- I am surprised he is not spoken about more.
Tony Elliot- is Swinney's OC, only naming him, because he's been mentioned as someone Dallas has interest in.
McCarthy- has been mentioned, I think is a sure upgrade from JG, but is he just a guy who had the best QB of all time carrying him? Not sure.
Carmichael, is Sean Peytons OC.
Robert Salah is the hot name, the SF DC.
Greg Roman - Love what he does with the run game, but is he only good when he has a QB that runs a 4.2?
Dan Mullen - This was Daks college coach, is the UF coach now.
Matt Rhule - Another hot name from college, but if I am going that route its Meyer

Sean Payton - signed a new 5 year extension
Urban Meyer - YES YES and YES
Josh McDaniels - No, don't think so
Lincoln Riley - possibly, but I think he may be another Garrett less the clapping
Jim Harbaugh - NO
Dabo Swinney - possibly
Nick Saban - No, he tried and failed, but won't blame him entirely on that, but he is what, 67 now, so no
McCarthy - not so sure, possibly but prefer not
Pete Carmichael - don't know who this is
Robert Salah - don't know him either
Greg Roman - possibly, would not be opposed to it, but don't know a lot about him
Dan Mullen - not so sure about him either, but don't know much about him either
Tony Elliott - same as above
Matt Rhule - don't think so, see him and Riley in the same situation, and not enough experience to truly make that jump to the NFL

Meyer is the true best option here.

If i was Jerry i would try to find out if Dabo has any interest/willing to talk. If not i would go after Urban, while also reminding myself this guy probably won't stay very long but still might win a SB in a short stay.

He's been good everywhere he has gone.

IT's not just Lamar.

He did well in Buffalo too as well as San Fran.

Tony Romo is a big fan too and that is what sold me.

Yeah.. I think i'll tune out football even more then I have this year if we go with Rivera.

A retread that brings 0 hope and excitement is what he is.

IT's a complete status quo hire.

Dallas needs a coach that gets everyone tuned in again and this is just a boring hire that might make us a tad better if that.

I would like to see Jerry start interviewing today. Before anyone claims it is poor form to interview people for a job that is not open, I view it as interviewing for a job that will become open. Even if The Clapper is a candidate to stay, his contract expires at the end of the season. There is no need to interview him, you have 10 years of record/evidence. Interview the two top potential coaches this week. If they lose to Washington or the Eagles win, then you interview Richard (Rooney rule checked) and another potential coach. That allows a quick decision.

If Jason gets butthurt over it...he can always quit.

Im not a fan of Roman and I personally hate his offense.

Having said that his bills staff had David Lee at QB coach, Tony sparano Jr. coaching Tight ends, Anthony Lynn coaching RB's, Sanjay Lal WR's and Chris Palmer as a consultant. this is a very familiar staff to Dallas.

Lee,Palmer and Lynn were parcells guys here and Lee is the guy that stayed after everyday and worked with Romo in those 03 and 04 seasons.

If you told me Greg Roman would put together a staff like that and then hire a good Defensive Coordinator I would be on board.

He's offensive coach but he is entirely dependent on having the right personnel to do it.

There are like 5 quarterbacks in the league who his offense can work with.
Now, don't box the guy in like that, man. He's had to work with QBs like Alex Smith, Kaepernick, Tyrod Taylor, ect. and has had productive offenses.
Apparently he is big on adjusting to his personel.

Don't think it will be a college coach (JJ mentioned something to that effect already). I think it will be Rivera (respected amongst players and knows defense), won't rock the boat with JJ. Moore will stay as OC (because JJ said so). In 5 years, there will be a new coach.....wash, rinse, repeat.

I could see Rivera being the DC. That may be a decent hire. I can’t see him being hired as the head coach.

Who knows what Jerry will do. I hope Stephen seeks out advice from some qualified people before a Jerry screws this up. Because if Jerry has his way it’ll be a retread or a has been. I do think Jerry would want a defensive minded guy as Kellen Moore is his shiny new pet and will insist he stay on. So get ready for a Rivera, Saleh, Norton or Del Rio type hire.

Kellen can go too.

We've had 3 games this year we've been shut out of the endzone.

He can go.

We are all hoping for a Porsche, but I have a feeling we are going to get a retread like a Ron Riveria or John Fox.

Matt Rhule would be a name I’d love to see, though there is the concern that his buyout could pose an obstacle. I don’t believe so, but it’s been discussed here a few days ago.
Personally my first choice
