Anyone gonna mention the refs

Yep, you're doing what everyone else is doing in letting your brain take shortcuts for you and assuming instead of actually digging into the video data. Did you do what I suggested above and examine it closely for yourself? You'll see I'm not lying in what I state.

I actually went and grabbed my video and saw the reverse angle replay they showed and there's even more to add. Parsons got a mini chip from the RB but also got hit from behind by the OL that Odiggy dislodged from to lay his hit on Carr. THAT is what made Parsons stumble as he tried to change directions, NOT his OL pulling on him. Even the regular video shows his OL didn't pull him. I didn't make my usual GIF because no one disputed it after I provided details.

But don't just ask me, ask the others who claimed it was a hold before my explanation and then didn't speak on it further after I gave this breakdown. @TheMarathonContinues, @cowboys5xsbs, and even throw in @RonnieT24

Use his hands or arms to materially restrict an opponent or alter the defender’s path or angle of pursuit. It is a foul regardless of whether the blocker’s hands are inside or outside the frame of the defender’s body. Material restrictions include but are not limited to:

  1. grabbing or tackling an opponent;
  2. hooking, jerking, twisting, or turning him; or
  3. pulling him to the ground.

If you are going to pull out the "ref" excuse, at least do it in a game where it not only was the case, but also where a call affected the outcome of the game. Bad/missed calls happen all game long in football. Whining about it is just annoying when there is no merit to it

It was a bad outing for us. We got smoked. Especially our Defense. They allowed at least 5 tds on the first 5 drives of the game.

But they for sure got a jump start from the refs in the 1st quarter. Come on. Did saints dbs even look back for the ball. So many broken plays the defender draped all over our WR and went through them with no flag. Never looking for the ball. We had a break up where our defender got there a tick early and they threw that one with no problem.

Lamb was interfered with in the endzone and then another defender came over and hit him helmet to helmet with no flag. Tolbert had a contested one handed catch where the defender was all over him early and never looked for the ball with no flag.

Then early on Lamb had a flag picked up because the ball was not catchable. Was not catchable because he was not allowed to run his route. Instead they called a ticky tack call on our O-Line.

I am sure some will pick and choose other plays we got away with something but the first quarter was obviously one sided calls.
How about the face masking penalty that was not called?

That and obvious dowdle tackle by facemask, they were early .if those had been called it might be a different game .
( who am I kidding .... LOL , that was a beat down )
You may be right but there is no denying that it demoralizes you when you make a play and a flag takes it away from you or you get prevented from making a play because the other guy fouled and there is no flag. Eventually it beats you down mentally. If someone said it beats this Cowboys team down TOO quickly I would not fight them though. It seems like it only takes 2 or 3 bad calls for this team to pack it in.

Maybe the first time I've ever seen a referee in the secondary throw a flag for holding on the OT.

Maybe they are aware of the history of poor and ill timed calls? Not to mention the weird calls like the illegal huddle, false start on the long snapper, delay of game on D-law for a normal shift, unsportsmanlike conduct on JG for arguing (mildly) with refs, multiple tripping penalties by all pro center, to name a few.

Some of these are unique to one or two teams ever. Many have never happened any teams. All have happened to one team. So it might get in their head some imo.

Dallas could have received every call and it would not have mattered. The Saints were way more physical than Dallas and executed at a very level.
I initially thought so too. Then I watched a bunch of videos analyzing the game and I realized it could have made a difference, especially early in the game. Let me explain.

I saw some obvious holding on a few early runs by the Saints. What if those were called and the Saints were set back 10 yards? Perhaps some of those TDs would not have happened, or would have been FGs, or punts. The Cowboys played like garbage, but the Saints really never saw a negative play early in the game and this had to help them stay in rhythm.

On the long TD pass for a TD, it was 7-3 at the time, Micah was rushing and was clearly held. What if that was called and the TD was called back? Coincidentally, the Saints ran the same play the week before against Carolina and it was also a TD. And on the play, Clowney was held just before he hit Carr and it was not called.

The fact is, we do not know what would have happened. If the facemask on Dowdle was called on the Cowboys first drive? Maybe Dallas gets in the end zone.

The Cowboys played very poorly, there is no doubt about that. They got kick in the tail pretty hard by the Saints, that is a certainty too. The lost because of how badly they played, but penalties can be disruptive to offenses. We know that. And who knows what could have happened in the Saints were called and pushed back 10 yards early on.

Know your audience.

Again, same question to you that hasn't been answered by at least 3 others concerning this play: do you actually see any kind of pulling action by the OL on Parsons directly causing him to make that stumble as Parsons himself tries to change direction?

like 60 bots in this thread saying the same thing over and over its incredible to see even though OP addressed we lost badly without them

I saw a few missed calls on us then our usual drive ending hold
Then the usual parsons no call and the deep bomb and i shut it off.

Not sure why when we face Carr the referring goes upside down

The idea that penalties early in games don't influence scoring, momentum and the overall outcome is ridiculous. Guys just say that to sound tough.

Would it have mattered against NO? Maybe, maybe not. But the immediate dismissal of the ripple effect of penalties is ridiculous.

Oh I remember the Brice Butler "too many men in the huddle" penalty in the playoffs against Green Bay that one time. When the replay clearly shows Dak standing away from the huddle to make sure NOT to have too many men in the huddle. How about the tripping call agaisnt Hendershot last year against the Lions when the replay clearly showed the defender tripping HIM!!?!?! As has been stated many times already.. you get enough of those going against you early it's hard not to start to get that sinking feeling.

More infuriating was other games in which flags for interference were called that were very ticky tack. Our guys get mugged and no flags. I saw early we were gonna got jobbed. But that leaves no excuse for getting plowed by a old rb and embarrassed at home because our defense can't do anything right on this day. So yeah I said it. Feel better moving on.

How about the obscure rule our center was penalized for a few years ago?

I think you mean the long snapper one right? Something about he did a weird movement or something? Or did they dig one out of the rule book on Biadasz too? Frankly it seems like they find more obscure rules to regulate the Cowboys than the rest of the league combined. But just as damaging are the no calls. The ability of other teams to blatantly hold our defenders and for DBs to mug our receivers all over the field seriously tilts the playing field against the Cowboys.

Yeah. Again. Talking about bad calls, can be, and is in this instance an independent discussion from why we lost. Sometimes it’s one small part of why we lost. Very rarely is it one of the biggest reasons why we lost.

Try to be accepting of having this open dialogue or if you can’t then you’re welcome to not participate in the thread, but please quit with this you’re blaming the refs because we lost. It’s lame and not accurate about most posts about refs.

It’s a separate discussion about one aspect of the game. Don’t get triggered.
I’m not the one getting triggered, you are. I’ll participate and give my opinion in any thread I feel like. If you’re not accepting of my opinion, then you’re welcome to scroll over my posts or put me on ignore.

First series of the game for the Cowboys the refs missed obvious face mask. They even showed the replay.

How in the hell can you miss blatantly grabbing the RB's facemask?

I knew then it was business as usual the rest of the game.
Ask our ref buddy describe how that was missed...

The RB intentionally placed his facemask into the defenders hand, really making it the runners fault.
