I don't see the Saints going 16-0. They will probably go 13-3 or something like that. That Patriot team was such a powerhouse. The Saints have a great offense but I just don't see it with them.

agreed. They may not. But, they are shaping up to be that way.

People are vastly underrating the Saints defense. Gregg Williams does not play bend-don't-break defense. He's always been stout against the run and pressures the QB w/blitzes. Hardly bend-don't-break.

Perhaps people think that Gary Gibbs is the one still coaching that D.

When you let another team score 2 TDs on average, that is bend but don't break. Less than that is a solid D.

Its the Saints...then everyone else in the NFC. At least for now.

That was a demoralizing beat down they put on the gints, who clearly didn't know what they were in for. I think they believe too much in the pedestal the team, and Elli in particular, have been put on by the media.

48-27, and it wasn't near that close in reality. The Saints had an answer for everything the gints tried. That answer was pretty much to go through them on offense like a controlled scrimmage.

Are you high? That is NOT the barometer to determine the philosophy of a scheme.

The Saints give up points b/c teams are throwing more/taking more chances to try to keep up w/the Saints offense.

Something to think about, does anybody here think that a team that plays in a dome can get by without a dominate defense.Provided that team has a potent offense to help cover up their defensive faults. It just seems that a team that plays outdoors in inclement weather has to have a real good defense because the weather can hamper the offense.

as I recall Freeny and a couple others were out most of the year and returned in the last month of the season and their D really came alive. WHich was good since Peyton did not have that good a playoffs. But as he had carried the team most of the year, the D carried them in the playoffs by making the plays when it mattered.

16 points is a lot? 20.6 is the league average. NO is holding teams well below the average, yet leading the league in ppg.

I'm very impressed, especially with the offense. I think they can be had as the defense has some holes in it. I think if they play a solid defense with a disciplined secondary and a decent enough offense that can run the ball and have a QB that can avoid getting picked off by Sharper, they can be beaten.

Unfortunately, I think we are the exact opposite of that team.

They have done nothing to convince me that they aren't the most dominant team in the NFL. They don't play great defense, but they do enough to make sure the offense is in a position to win the game. Their defense won't win a game, but their offense will.

With a nonsense comment like this, I have to assume that you haven't watched any Saints games this year. The defense took control of both games against the Bills and the Jets when the offense played out of rhythm. They lead the league in interceptions and ranked 3 overall and are second in the take-away/give-away ratio. To be honest, the Giants are lucky that the score was even more lopsided than it was. A roughing the passer called back an interception TD and then the Giants scored on that drive. They lead the league in PF/PA point differential and have not trailed in a game yet.

I don't agree with this. It does matter if their D is good enough. They aren't going to score 30-40 points every game and when they don't is their defense going to be good enough to win them a game, a big game. I think the jury is still out.

...come on my friend let's get real...they hung 48 on the Eagles and now 41 on the Giants [34 in one half of football no less!]...they could've scored as many points as NE did today if they had to...

...we boast the NFC East as the best division in football but the Saints have a very good chance of sweeping the division without breaking a sweat...i watched todays game from start to finish...complete and absolute demolition of the Giants secondary i don't care if Ross, Phillips and Boley were out, it would'nt have made any difference...the Saints receivers caught everything...the Giants never had a chance...their special teams unit was the only thing that kept them close in the first half...they ran into a buzz saw today and a similar fate awaits Dallas unless they clean up their act...we all remember the embarrassment at home in 2006...the only chance Dallas will have is to hit Brees early and often...

...correct! Sharper has 5 int and he would've had six had it not been wiped out by a penalty in todays game...this ain't your daddy's Saints team...they've got Gregg Williams and he's made all the difference with the addition of Darren Sharper...injuries to key players is the only thing i see blunting New Orleans...the Saints only weakness is special teams and once they clean that up they'll be even more dangerous...

if you're not impressed with the Saints then you can't call yourself a football fan..

Why did we let Sean Payton go, is the question?

Those who are knocking the Saints D either don't know much about football or have not seen this team play. This isn't the same marshmallow defense they've had in the past. This defense is FAST. They're legit. Nobody is saying they're the 85 bears but they can make plays now.

Bill Parcells allowed him to interview for a head coaching position, he got hired so that's the end of the story really....

Exactly, kind of like our team in 2007.
