Roster needs and talent evaluation go out the door if you aren't on the field.

If his third year is a repeat of his second year then it would more judicious to give a younger/greener, but injury free player to take a roster spot and build up that asset.

I'm not sure, but does anyone know what it is about Stanback that has the team willing to extend this experiment? Is his physical talents/playmaking ability that great for them to be patient?

Sometime it's not about the ability, but being available even though you are lesser talent may work out the best in finding players who can contribute at the bottom of the roster.

Although I don't have statistic on this; the term "injury" and Stanback have been used more than once in his career.

cut this dude... how many 7th round draft picks or undrafted free agent receivers do we need in our receiving corps...

thats why are team relies on getting the ball to runningbacks and tight ends... our receivers are garbage....

Stanback is done people, its been 3 years and he has barely sniffed the field. Every year we get these type of threads, talking about his talent, how he is finally going to put it together. Its time to give somebody like Mike Jefferson a shot....

I don't think anyone has a problem with evaluating the guy. Everyone knows the story. Talented, fragile guy.

Not sure many are saying he wouldn't be able to develop and play if he could stay healthy. I think most are ready to say goodbye because he cannot stay healthy.

He is a physical freak with unreal speed and he is intelligent. Just unlucky so far. Do we really want to toss a guy because of luck?

What am I saying? Fans would toss a guy for golf, his girl, and the direction of his cap.

And I think the coaching staff may not agree with "most" and it could cause "most" to blow up. That was entirely the point of my original comment and remains my point. I already know that if the Coaching Staff decides to keep Stanback over the Reality Show star it will mean the entire Staff is clueless. I know Madden players and Couch Scouts are superior talent evaluators to NFL Coaches. I've seen it for a lot of years now.

And the staff is infallable and beyond question?

Not from what I can see.

Not from the same folks who brought you Jacob Rogers or James Marten, or a list of other mistakes.

If the guy can't stay healthy (and he hasn't), he can't help this team.

It would be a shame to cut a player like Ogletree - who is on the field and producing - to prolong an experiment that continues to stall.

You can't apply the 3-year rule to Stanback because he's canme into the WR position as a project, NEVER having played it before. If the Cwoboys sriously decided to take on such a project-experiment and only gave themselves 3 years for it then they're just plain Stupid. But unlike many here, I don't believe that Cowboys' management is that stupid.

I think Cowboys' management is giving Stanback at least 4 years to show his stuff, which means he's probably safe this season. Besides, it's not like the position is loaded with talent, so if the Cwboyos extended the experiment they would not be giving up a proven plyer.

I'm just frustrated that Stanback is hurt again. I just want him back on the filed on a consistent basis. Wade seems to want that too based on his recent comments about Stanback. I still believe that, when helthy, he providews the best overall package at WR among receivers not named Williams, Crayton Austin and Hurd.
