Anyone know why so much indecision at the Star?

I get they wanted McCarthy back then he left, I get the hiring of Schottenheimer

I dont get why they havent made the hire yet? What are they waiting for?

How did this indecisive? Is Jerry unable to make a decision? Is he too old now? Is there infighting between Jerry and Stephen?

Anyone have any clue as to any of this? Theres no direction. Just a hire a dang HC and start moving in a direction. The more time they waste the harder it is for the next HC

No one is going to rush in and steal him away. So they might as well see what other candidates are available before hiring him.

Maybe Jerry is just letting the media have a frenzy over the Schottenheimer rumor while he intends on hiring a coach that is still coaching in the playoffs like Kellen Moore or Kingsbury. No one really knows what our crazy owner is thinking

They have less options now than ever simply because of their past record of how they run the organization and treat past employees, any organization that needs specialized employees that don't grow on trees and that gets a bad reputation find it very difficult to attract not only quality but in some cases any candidates at all.

They may still be waiting for coach that is coaching in the playoffs. I’m not buying these Schottenheimer rumors. Unfortunately I think it will end up being Kellen Moore.

I think they realize how poorly this will be received, and as such are working very hard to find a positive spin to it and prepare all their talking points and related content. To the press, to the players, to the fans.

Soon we'll start hearing from other former players and coaches how respected Schottenheimer is, his dad's legacy, his football philosophy etc.

There's a lot of bullcrap they need to line up and it takes time.

Premise A: There can be no other rational conclusion but that, if Schotty is the guy, it would already be done.

Premise B: It is not already done.

Conclusion: Schotty isn't the guy.

While everything points to Schotty being part of whatever is coming, everything also points to some other variable out there affecting the situation... and since Schotty isn't laid up in a hospital somewhere or we don't have any other ready explanation for how that variable may be Schotty-centric... it is most reasonable to believe the other variable is... a someone else.

I personally think there’s too many opinions and they arent always on the same page.

That’s why the overall strategy seems to be all over the map.

‘You get your way this time, I get my way next time…’ Opposing philosophies don’t align within the bigger picture.

It’s a major disadvantage, but it’s how it is for now since Jerry won’t give up any potential credit and the kid apparently has a very large say. Then McClay chimes in and the HC is maybe sometimes asked what they think.

They have made the decision, it appears. But they have to be prepared for the initial blowback, which will be significant. People aren't going to like this. It's bad for business to roll out a dud without at least trying to justify it or promote it.
