What a terrible GM if he's being swayed by others. Just make a decision and move on. I thought the GM had final say, outside of the Owner, in which Jerry is both.
I’m sure he does have final say, but it’s clear he listens to the kid in a large way, and that person is clearly more interested in saving a buck here and there than winning.

I really dont know how you’ve built a team that has proven to not be good enough, then claim you have no cap space to improve …..where exactly do things go from there?

I think he told the truth. Oil gave him the money. The Cowboys are just a fun thing to do with family. They got the winning done early so as long as he can run the team with his family he's happy, winning doesn't matter much.
Good assessment. Your last sentence is spot on.

Yup, been trying to tell people this for years now. Jerry has gone out of his way to prove that winning doesn't matter to him.

And this is just absurd.

Jerry Jones is a flawed man, but some of these comments just seem to take that and run with it... far, far away, past left field, out of the ballpark.
You're far too lenient. He is the worst owner in the league by a mile, maybe the worst in American sports but I won't pretend to be familiar with every owner. He's a complete disaster and totally incompetent.

I personally think there’s too many opinions and they arent always on the same page.

That’s why the overall strategy seems to be all over the map.

‘You get your way this time, I get my way next time…’ Opposing philosophies don’t align within the bigger picture.

It’s a major disadvantage, but it’s how it is for now since Jerry won’t give up any potential credit and the kid apparently has a very large say. Then McClay chimes in and the HC is maybe sometimes asked what they think.
The head of an organisation 'should' delegate opinions to his minions and then, through discussion with said minions ....and make the final decision.
Then again he's listening to: Stephen (with his ability to mess up most things, see Randy Gregory contract) and Will (Mazi Smith can develop into a pass-rushing DT).

Why so much indecision at the Star?
Groucho Marx said it best. "He may look like an idiot and talk like an idiot, but don't let that fool you. He really is an idiot."

The whole thing was messed up because they are idiots.

Just understand that they are idiots and don’t know what they are doing and everything makes sense.

That's your right to feel that way. Free country.

Outcome-based facts substantiate there are far worse. For instance, Joe Burrow has been a savior in Cincinnati. That franchise is Exhibit A of both (a) how important a franchise quarterback is, and (b) how devastating it can be to have a cheap, narcissist for an owner. Let's remember, Mike Brown kept Marvin Lewis as his head coach and effectively director of player personnel for 10ish years(!).

Objectively, the Joneses fall within the normal curve overall. Not an outlier in either direction.

I subscribe to the mantra that facts do not care about one's feelings.

Oh God not another Rambo. The cowboys record of playoff futility in the last 30 years (the era where all owners had to play under the same rules) is well known. I welcome your attempt to explain this as "not an outlier"

I'm to the point of not understanding anything going on anymore

I get they wanted McCarthy back then he left, I get the hiring of Schottenheimer

I dont get why they havent made the hire yet? What are they waiting for?

How did this indecisive? Is Jerry unable to make a decision? Is he too old now? Is there infighting between Jerry and Stephen?

Anyone have any clue as to any of this? Theres no direction. Just a hire a dang HC and start moving in a direction. The more time they waste the harder it is for the next HC

The Cowboys are a reactive franchise and not proactive.

They want everything to come to them.
