They officially were the Dallas Rangers their first 2 months of existence.

Thankfully there was already a baseball team (minor league at the time) using it, so the change was made.

Some might argue the current Rangers are still a minor league club.

Hopefully the free agents might actually make the Rangers a real MLB team....

Regardless of how you feel about Washington changing their name, and if they should have, it’s completely irrational to believe on any level that there’s any support on the smallest level to even suggest Dallas changes their name. If anything, they may one day drop Dallas but that’s doubtful due to how iconic it is
I don’t see the comparison between to two either

Exactly. Where did this even come from?
Honestly I’ve never even heard the suggesting of changing the name
There is a baseball team in Atlanta I’ve heard a lot but even that I don’t see happening
And even that name doesn’t compare to Commanders

One question they ended the interview with was did he think Dallas would ever be forced by public pressure to change our name from the Cowboys.
lol. I encourage any individual on Earth, believing a name change request will ever gain any tangible traction, to hold their breath and wait-and-see what happens.

When all of this started swirling around the WFT name, I was running a group of radio stations in OK and the Chickasha and Choctaw Indian Nations were customers. I asked some people pretty high up within the tribes about the Commanders name and they were most definitely offended by that word. The person in charge of all the Chickasha casinos pointed out that word had never been used in any way but a derogatory fashion in word and print.

The others, Chiefs, Indians and Seminoles weren't considered offensive but the tomahawk chop was because of what that represents. Then she asked me if the Cowboys fans act like they're shooting guns at games.

I am a white Caucasian male and am not in a position to define what is offensive to any ethnicity or minority.

Please stop. The Cowboys name is not even close to the situation the WFT had.
People need to stop making these comparisons in ahistorical silos.
