Anyone still happy about the 5th round pick?

I have no problem with the trade giving up a fifth round draft pick for a starter at 9 million and only one year left on his deal.....What I would have a problem with is if Dallas gives him an extension, then that would be a problem at his age....
Looking at the tape from last season Gilmore is still playing at a high level. 9 mill for a top CB not bad. Also it was not as if the Colts had a pass rusher leaving CB on an island

Its not the picks but the 9M in cap space that concerns me. Gilmore WAS a great CB, but he is not that guy anymore.

Thats a lot of money for a 32 year old CB with an unknown amount of juice left in the tank.
They were going to do nothing with the cap anyway. It’s a risk but scared money don’t make no money.

I have no problem with the trade either. Its just not enough to sign an aging big name and declare we fixed the problem.

They have cap space only bc they restructured a bunch of contracts. We usually do such things so we can extend other guys. I hope Gilmore can still play. Indy apparently didn't think so.

Peterson ain’t Peterson no more….
Hate to break it to you but neither is Gilmore. Peterson had better numbers last year than Gilmore. He is also a bigger body. I like both leadership qualities.

Lets just call them equal. Peterson was cheaper, they got him for 2 years tied up and no 5th round pick.

Im happy, but its another case of Jones a little too late.

What was the problem though? The defense was good…our biggest issues were DT and corner opposite of Diggs. Anthony Brown prior to last season proved to be good enough over there. Now you’ve upgraded with Gilmore? Hard not to love it. Still some guys out there that can help our interior on the mine.

In my mind it’s a Quinn move and if so, then I like them giving him some influence and power. He’s our best leader and coach right now.

I also like putting youth where there are veterans. And in this case a smart veteran where we are young.

I don’t think it makes us much better (but an improvement) in the end, but it smells like a slight departure from their approach of the recent past.

Indy is having a fire sale. The issue wasn’t Gilmore it was his contract. I don’t think fans are being realistic on what Gilmore is right now. He’s not the Gilmore of old. But even at his age he's one of the best corners we’ve had in recent memory. Father Time may catch up but hopefully not all the way up.

This screams Jerry and Stephen….this is like a few years ago when they traded for Quinn and Michael Bennett.

I watched both play last year. Both are not the same corners they were a few years ago but Gilmore is closer to what he was in his prime than Peterson. I don’t care what PFF says on that front. Only thing I can’t speak on is the level of completion Gilmore played against. Peterson was not their number one corner.

These contracts aren’t worth the paper they are signed on. I’m sure if they gave him an extension it will be easy to get from under it.

i can understand that Gilmore played on a horrible team so maybe didnt play as well.

I think they are very comparable. Not sure where you are getting PFF from. It was never mentioned.
