Anyone still think Reggie McNeal can't play QB in the NFL?

Didnt think so....

Will easily win the MVP of the Shrine game, he is 9-11 for over 200 yards and 2 TDs, 4 rushes for 40 yards, and led a TD drive on all 4 drives he was apart of. All this against some of the best competition in college football.

While I like McNeil, To say this is against some of the best competition in football is false.

The majority of the players in this game will be drafted to the NFL, that's some solid compitition

Solid competition ok, but you said the best competition. How may first round defensive players are on the field?

First rounders? 1 or 2

First day picks? 8

I would like to know who you think from the East West game is going to be a first round pick? I think your going overboard with 8 of them being drafted on the first day. I agree that this isn't exactly the greatest competition. Outside of the Senior Bowl the other all star games are pretty watered down in terms of talent. Not to mention you forget to mention in these games you can't blitz or do any defensive line stunts. That is a great help for a quarterback. The teams he faced in the Big 12 were more of a barometer to measure his potential than this game.

Good reply, I am aware of Reggie McNeal, being from Lufkin, he led our high school football team to national state championship. He is good, but his QB's pocket presence is suspect, and drop backs in pocket, I would admit like to see the Dallas Cowboys draft him (sure at QB in 2nd or 3rd round is where i think he might go, maybe 4th but not any lower). Yet, the Cowboys have him play at WR , he is exceptionally fast at 6-2 about 200, with 4.38 in 40. He could be this years rookie Matt Jones, sure hes not that big, but he is faster, and has greater moves too.

And why would a game against yet more college players mean anything towards his ability to play in the pros? It's still college...

Who would have thought things would turn out this way? Vince Young & Reggie McNeal graduated highschool the same year and great things were expected from them.....as QBs! Now VY is heading into the pros as a Top 5 pick.....as a QB. And Reggie? Maybe a QB but maybe as a WR too?! I never would have thought it when they signed w/ their respective colleges. I thought Franchionne was a GURU of some sort?! Oh well... At 6-2 , 200lbs. and running in the 4.4s, maybe Reggie can be a FS for us if the QB or WR thing doesn't workout for him.....

He'll play in the NFL. But he won't ever be great.

Well hell, I guess we should never draft colleg eplayers again, seeing as how they are forced to play against such pathetic collegiate compitition.

I swear some of you have never sat through a football game in your lives.

The guy did far more in college than half the starting QBs in the NFL right now. What an ignorant statement.

The thing is, Franchione's F'ed up offense screwed his senior season up. That BS spread crap with an option run every other play. He tore it up in 2004 with a convential, pro style offense.

Had Reggie played at Texas, with all that talent around him and a better system, I have no doubt he would have put up the same numbers VY did. Now, VY is a better leader, but one can learn to be a leader. Reggie's physical skills are actually superior to VY's. He is faster, can throw farther, and actually has a pro throwing motion.

Dang, was at the movies all day, watching Munich and Glory Road.

Anyway....

So the kid has been impressive.

I have said all along, I think the guy is every bit as good as Vincent Young, he just didnt have Young's horses but I dont know that he has the heart Vince has either as it was questioned alot this year.

Depending on what we do with the 1st and 2nd Pick, I dont know if I would be all that mad if this guy was available in the 3rd Round as a viable option at Quarterback.

He has 4.3 Speed and could help out in other areas.

If he is there in the 3rd, and we have taken at least 1 tackle and 1 LB/safety, I would have no problem picking him.

First time I've seen him play & thought he looked real good. He not as big as most would want, but he showed an arm & athletic ability. Doubt he goes any higher then 3rd but performance in combine could move him up/down. He certainly could be solid backup. Actually more athletic then Romo with better arm.

McNeal brings alot to the table but Vincent Young's intangibles just puts him so much further apart than most athletes, much like they say about Mr. Reggie Bush.

I would much rather have Mcneal being groomed then Henson and Romo, that is for sure.

Reggie McNeal could be a good NFL QB with some work.
If you look at his Junior sees he had a really great year.
This year was bad on him partially due to A&m having to play catch up due to their defense. Then add in the injuries on Offense. Then throw in the fact they had a Freshman starting on the O-Line. Yea he didnt do as good as last year but you cant blame it all on him
