Anyone still think Reggie McNeal can't play QB in the NFL?

The highlight clip doesn't really do him justice. The entire first half is of him doing what people say he isn't: a run first QB. One of the only two throws in the first half of the clip was a Hail Mary tipped ball pass. That hardly shows me anything.

The second half did have more passing...but there were very few plays where passing ability and accuracy stood out. He does throw a nice deep ball, but you didn't see him throwing any crossing routes, any posts, any deep outs, etc. You basically just saw him throwing the long ball. That isn't what gets it done in the NFL.

So you're saying that one game defines him as NFL-ready despite an entire season (and career, really) of underachieving? The NFL is very different from college, if you haven't noticed, and in the grand scheme one game doesn't mean much.

A career which involved breaking numerous school records, being selected national offensive player of the week 4 times in his career, playing his 3 best games against the 3 best teams he ever played, and doing all this in spite of not having a tenth of the talent Vince Young had around him? Yes

He hasnt come up big in games that matter?

He single handedly beat #1 OU as freshman, and, had it not been for a 4th quarter injury, would havce beaten #1 OU again in 2004.

He destroyed #16 OSU on the road in 2004, played an excellent game to beat #20 Texas tech in 2004, I could go on, but you get the idea

And do me this: If you can name one guy, ONE guy, in the NFL who can run a 4.3, throw the ball 60+ yards flat footed, can throw a ball through a tire at a distance of 25 yards, and has a 35" vertical, I'll back down and never say anything about Reggie again.

Ok as a aggie fan i witness this first hand.
Against the 117th ranked Pass defense and a pretty bad overall defense Vince had a pretty bad performance 1 int and 2 or 3 fumbles. Shouldnt he have been able to rip apart that defense.

Nobody is denying McNeil is an athlete... you just went a step too far by declaring him the best athlete on NFL teams he hasn't even made it to yet. Hell, Akili Smith had a better college campaign than McNeil did and he turned out GREAT in the NFL. In the end, college accomplishments don't amount to much in the NFL. But hey, if you want to count crumbling to Baylor with a #16 ranking on the line, you can call him a winner all you want, but it won't make any more sense.

I'm sure the fact that you're an Aggie has NOTHING to do with any of this analysis either. Plus, you have to go to the other side of the token... you say he was playing against some of the best college competition, but was he not playing WITH some of these guys as well?

McNeil could very well end up as a solid NFL QB, but to claim you know you've got it all figured out is just stupid.

In 2004, Vince and "Weggie" both played OU's defense. Vince Had an INT, several fumbles, and did nothing all day with more talent than McNeal had. Later that same year, McNeal had over 200 yards passing, 50 yards rushing, and 4 total TDs IN ONE HALF.

This season, Vince Young couldnt do ANYTHING against the worst defense in CF, Texas A&M

Owning you is starting to feel like getting lucky with Jenna Jamison. Yeah its nice, but its so easy that it almost takes the fun out of it...almost...

Don't know about the tire thing, but Vick can do all those things. Ofcourse, do you have numbers outside of ATM of this forty time? Do you have this "60 yards flat footed" and a tire video? More aggy hype.

He also threw a pick in a killer situation in that game, so it wasn't all rosey.

And does "he can play QB at the next level" not equate to "he will be a good QB at the next level?" I don't see the difference there.

My main point is well yeah, of course he has the tools to do well in the NFL. There are over 30 D-1 QB's that have the tools to do well at the next level, but it doesn't mean they will.
