One of the big mistakes the Eagles made with Donte Stallworth was TRYING to make him the #1(the possession guy et al) receiver. Having lived in New Orleans for years, I knew Stallworth wouldn't be gangbusters for them(unlike most Eagles posters were like last year when he was traded).

With that being said-with the Pats' depth at WR, it looks like Belichick and McDaniels will be smart and utilize Stallworth's talents(i.e. primarily stretching the field) properly.

I think Welker may prove to be the most significant signing at the position by them. He just seems like the type of player that will keep drives alive while making a significant contribution in ST.

And what's up w/ Chad Jackson, their #1 from a year ago? He seems buried in the depth charts and I'm not sure if he even saw the field tonight. I wonder if there's a chance he doesn't make the roster.

I also think Washington could help someone as a #3.

If I remember correctly he is injured and will miss the season, I think he got injured in the playoffs. I cant remember off the top of my head, it might have been a torn acl.

oh boy the patriots "are who we thought they were". (yawn.)

There's no singularly dominant team in the NFL. I dont get the Pat paranoia.

your basing this off preseason...and honestly we've looked better than them in preseason, so does that mean we can be 16-0 too?

and how you could think the Pats could be a 16-0 team and not the 1993 Cowboys says alot...that team was EONS deeper, more talented, better skills guys, great coaching etc etc

David

I know they cant go back and play the games but at very worst the Cowboys should have been 15-1 that year. The 1st 2 games they lost was without ES.

I know that really doesnt have anything to do with the topic but figured I throw that in there.:D

Watched the Pats-Panthers game and was not impressed at all by the Panthers play. The Pats did look good but again against an unimpressive Panther team.

I'd say anyone watching us against the Broncos would have come away from that game much more impressed with us. I'd say the Pats go 13-3.

Add to that Leon Lett costed us that T-Giving game.

Not complaining, 'cuz he all but made up for it with by forcing that fumble on Thurman Thomas in the SB, which turned the game around in a BIG way.

The Pats will definitely be good... But man, Carolina looks terrible for the second week in a row. Wasn't it just last week that the Eagles killed them?

It's hard to say, because the Pats and Eagles might be two of the best teams in the whole NFL. But if I'm a Panthers fan, I'm pretty worried. This team might just implode this year.

Actually, the Panthers have looked terrible in all of their preseason games this year. Granted, preseason isn't a precursor to how they will truly perform in the regular season but there really isn't anything positive that they have shown so far. And I'm not just blowing smoke here. I live in the heartland of Panthers country, so I'm being forced fed all the little tidbits of information that's going on in their training camp and man, it's not pretty.

Jake Delhomme is a one year wonder, he has been enigmatic if not eratic ever since that one glorious ride in 2003 when the stars aligned and Quincy Carter was his opposition in the Wild Card.

Since then he has been sack bait, a real stat padder for secondaries and his team has been a media darling that much like Washington doesn't get it done.

I venture to go so far as to say this will be the last straw in John Fox's stay there, if they don't win this year he may not be back next year and if they fail in 2008 he'll be back to coordinating elsewhere in the league.

It's not Jake's fault(at least not completely)-it's the OL, it (really)stinks. Jon Fox's big mistake is signing former pro bowlers on the wrong side of 30 with this position, INSTEAD of investing in the draft(i.e. Mike Wahle is a bigger bust there than Rivera was here). They're run O is actually worse than their pass protection b/c of this.

Yeah-I don't seem them very good either again this year. If things turn out as expected, he'll likely be the Giants coach in '08-at least they have a good GM there(Jerry Reese), so someone else other than him will be buying the groceries.

I was at the game. The Pats didn't impress me. There first scoring drive would have never happened but they went for a fourth down on there own 25 and got it. There TD drive to start the 2nd half was against Carolinas backups basically. Peppers, Rucker, Morgan, Jenkins etc... were all done at the half

That's true, but I'd imagine Carolina would be able to run a little better with Kalil at his natural position and their starting guard in the lineup.

Side note: Two blocked kicks is just sad. That second one should have been a TD. He had three shots to the endzone, with two of them wide open. Delhomme sucks arse.
You wanted him.
