Granted, he's got some major weapons at AZ, but he's really doing a great job of using those weapons. Their receivers are > than ours (at least this past season with an injured RW who wasn't with us in training camp), but I like our TE and RB's over theirs. Warner is also having a great year again, and I'm happy for him.

Haley just shows much more inventiveness and killer instinct than Garrett does, IMO.

I wonder if TO wishes we had kept Todd Haley .... ?

Well, it sure helps when those weapons can actually get open and make a play.

Good Lord. Should the Cowboys have everyone in the NFL that enjoys a little success? Should they be compared and told to learn from everyone in the NFL who enjoys some success?

Sean Payton, Todd Haley; who's a better QB, Flaco, Eli, etc; what can Dallas learn from Arizona, the list is ridiculous and so is the speculation.

dysfunctional is the best term to accurately describe the cowboys. it's sad.

2007 was courtesy of sporano being around.

the execution is poor because the team has horrible practice habits and the QB makes the same mistakes over and over again

if he had no feel for the game, we wouldnt have had one of the best offense's we've ever had in 2007.

and while your last statement is true most places, it isnt just the "player" doing the bullying, its the owner, who has repeatedly sided with that player

its a dysfunctional atmosphere...get rid of the problem people, and things will probably change,...when the HC puts no emphasis on discipline, attention to detail or accountability, things are going to be bad

When you get 2 mouths visibly squawking like Haley and T.O. then you expect the coach to be smarter or more constructive about it. By the way the Cowboys chose NOT to discipline Haley. Haley has had a history of altercations including getting into with Parcells on the sidelines in one particular game. Parcells physically fist shoved Haley to make him back off over whatever hissy fit.

So before you conveniently glorify and deify Haley at the expense of Jerry Jones because of Haley's current success with Arizona at least qualify that Haley back in his Cowboys years wasn't the easiest coach to work with and loved to run his mouth.

I don't begrudge Haley, he moved on and appears to have become a better coach with Arizona so that is good to see. In fact I noticed his restraint dealing with Bolden.

But most certainly Haley didn't handle things very well several years ago when he was an assistant coach at Valley Ranch.
thank you for posting this

the T.O. haters were all ready to target their favorite victim once again

Lets not get too carried away here. Whisenhunt was an offensive coordinator before taking that HC job. The offense is more his than Haley's.

Well that is a good point dbair. Whisenhunt built the sandbox, brought the sand and Tod is playing in it. Knows how to have fun in that sandbox though.

On a more serious note, Tod was calling some nice counter plays against the Eagles defense so he may have some starch in his shirt collar.

I thought that Garrett was involved with gameplanning in 2007, but Sparano called the plays during the game .....

If we lose Garrett... save the text in this thread title and just change name.

Anyone wish we had kept Jason Garrett?

hey dude, you have your guys backwards.

no big deal.

Not sure I buy that. Sparano calling the plays is what I remember, and the link I posted (not that Wikipedia is gospel or anything) says the same.

Garrett called the plays in 2007.

The link you provided says Sparano called the plays in 2006.

Sporano shared gameplanning duties with many in 06 and 05. In 06 sporano coached the line and coordinated the running game and called the plays.

In 07 sporano was demoted to offensive line coach only, if you call that a demotion I guess.

Jason garret called plays in 07. Wiki is wrong.

In 2006 under Sparano/Parcells the offense ranked 4th in points and 5th in yards

In 2007 under Sparano/Garrett the offense ranked 2nd in points and 3rd in yards

In 2008 under Garrett by himself the offense ranked 18th in points and 13th in yards

Throw those numbers on a productivity chart and I know which way the arrow's pointing.
