Appeal hearing Aug 29

I thought it just needed to be scheduled within 10 days not actually held?

Yes that is what I understand, the hearing needs to be scheduled within 10 days. Not sure how long they have to give a decision in, after the hearing. Say if they schedule it for September 7, he denies it on the 8th after the courts close. Then how can they get an injunction against the suspension in time for the 10th.

knowing our luck itll be all tied up in court til late november, so zeke is out for all of december and possible playoff games when we play per usual the hottest team in the conference.

I don't see the suspension being eliminated in this hearing.

It may be reduced, in which case the inference still stands: Elliot is a woman-beater.
The question then becomes, "How hard will he fight to clear his name?". Getchya popcorn ready... this could take a while.

The decision on the appeal will be may made in 1 hour by Mara bet on it.

They just filed the appeal today, not that long ago, do you think they really set a date that quick. It would be all over the news already.
This is Schefter being his usual idiot self. He is playing numbers game on the 10 days.

May be correct, who knows.

But 10 days from now would be a maximum of august 25th

Now with the date set how long does the league have to render the appeal decision?

Btw, since Goodall is judge and jury, it really may be good that he wasnt there for the intial hearing and decision.

I know, desperately seeking a silver lining here:laugh:

Why would Adam pull that date out of thin air? They have 10 days to schedule the appeal. Business days I'm sure. The league probably received his appeal notice earlier in the day. It's not hard to set an appeal date for the hearing.

The 29th would be 10 business days from now. I think that's what they go by.

I don't believe there is any time frame for when they have to reach a verdict on the appeal. The went 5 weeks without ruling on Brady's appeal.

I wonder how much time would be needed to go to court to get an injunction. I have seen a few legal opinions say that Elliott's attorneys are making a mistake not filing in court now. That by following the appeal process, Elliott is giving the league control over legal jurisdiction as well.

Hopefully Zeke's lawyer and NFLPA's lawyers are camping out at the federal courthouse so the NFL does not get to pick NY as the court location.
