Arch Manning announces highly anticipated commitment

Yes, but the claim was made that you had to be a really good player. Reich was a career backup.
The claim was that you need to have been a good enough player to understand the game better. There are certain elements of the game that you learn much better through practice and repetition on the field than you could learn in any classroom.

Here’s his original post .

Did you ever play football? If so, what position and how well did you perform? Talk is cheap typing behind a computer screen. I want to see if you truly understand the game of football. Only 1 way anyone can truly do that is by having played and excelled at the sport.

If you didn't, you shouldn't be talking.”

Yes, he clearly stated you needed to have “excelled at the sport . “
K-it’s just another talking point attempting to discredit an opposing opinion.

Basically he’s ruling out hundreds of millions of fans and thousands of analyst including himself. Pure extremist homerism because he doesn’t like the opinion. Sorry but it must be called out for what it is.

The majority of these 5 star QB’s fizzle and quite a few transfer like Burrow, Murray, Mayfield and Hurts in order to make it.

However, the Manning brothers are two that did work out well so we’ll see.

Name has something to do with it but when you got Alabama, Georgia and Clemson knocking on your door along with Texas I think they see the talent there as well.
Clemson been out of the running once they lost Tony Elliot. Something tells me Texas QB will transfer soon.

When was Mayfield ever a 5 star QB? He was originally a walk on at Texas Tech.

What do you think about AC assertion that unless we excelled at football personally we are unable to make evaluations and analysis of football?
I think anyone who thinks playing at the high school level, or even the college level, gives them some sort of unique and special insight into the National Football League is absurd. If someone got an A in High School biology that sure doesn't make them a brain surgeon. So anyone thumping their chest about how they lettered in football therefore their opinion about the NFL trumps someone who didn't play sure is acting pretty darn insecure.

IDK. Maybe but I bet he graduates before coming out. His family prob would want him to finish college. It’s not like they need the money . It might depend know when Whorns bolt to SEC.

True but he is still a 5 star recruit whom many publications has him listed as a top prospect. He still has another year of high school but this is more than just name, the kid as talent

no one is claiming he does not have talent. The point is his name has magnified everything around him; including his talent.

Huge for Sark and Texas. This will put them back on the map as top WRs, RBs, and OL will soon follow to play with Arch.

Really doubt it will have that much effect until Manning shows he is not all hype.

And just how good a coach Sark is - well we will see. Not been all that impressed; all the Horns troubles cannot be blamed on a lack of talent.

It’s true. Of all the places why would the family want to him to come to Dallas.

Remember how Archie dictated where Eli went .

During an interview on the "10 Questions with Kyle Brandt" podcast, Eli finally revealed why he refused to play for the Chargers, who were then located in San Diego.

"It was my decision having talked with my agent, coaches, [general managers] and owners," Manning said. "Going through the draft process, I was just worried about the Chargers organization at the time. I felt it was the right decision and I had a little pull. I quietly tried to say 'Hey, please don't draft me, it can be our secret,' and they didn't keep the secret part very well."

At the time, Manning was represented by Tom Condon, who also represented the Chargers coach at the time (Marty Schottenheimer), the quarterback at the time (Drew Brees) and the team's star running back (LaDainian Tomlinson), so Condon likely had a good feeling for how Manning would have fit it in. Back in 2004, the Chargers also were gaining a reputation as a place young quarterbacks should avoid: Drew Brees had a rough first two seasons in San Diego and that came shortly after the team's debacle with Ryan Leaf, who was the No. 2 overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft.
