Yes, and I'm totally shocked.l
Pretty sure they are talking about adding camp bodies, guys.
A Gus Johnson level to replace the injured Gus Johnson
It is almost like the media doesn't know that all 3 backs should be back at 100% by tomorrow.
Well, the Rams used a second on him last year and he hasn't really done much of anything to lose value.
I do understand what you're saying though and RB is a position that doesn't bring a lot of offers in.
However, my primary thought in saying a 2nd or 3rd round pick is that the Rams probably want to keep Mason until they're 100% sure about Gurley and have seen him play well in some regular season games. IMO, the trade would have to be in the Rams favor a little bit in order to get them to go ahead and let their security blanket go.
I don't think Fisher will want to trade him but if Dallas over-paid some, they might entice him to take a chance he normally wouldn't.
Also, I don't think many NFC teams are going to want to trade a back to Dallas with their offensive line as good as it is. There is a decent chance that whoever trades a good RB to Dallas is going to end up with some egg on their face when it comes to their own fan base.
If Mason went to Dallas and then absolutely lit it up, the Rams faithful would get pretty riled up. And if Gurley happened to not be as good as everyone thinks and Mason becomes really good in Dallas, Fisher would never live it down.
There is some fairly significant downside there for the Rams, so IMO, you'd have to entice them with a pretty good offer.
That was my line of thinking.
Yes, I'm always amazed at just how little the national media actually knows about our team.
Not knowing who or what will be available in the second round, or even knowing where in the second round the Cowboys will pick... yeah, I probably could sleep with that decision.Well let me ask you this. If you trade that #2 and you get Mason, but you miss out on a Randy Gregory who we got in the 2nd this year can you sleep at night? I can't, unless Mason goes for 1,500 and we make it to the SB!
If Randle and the bunch don't get it done this season then the personnel department needs to get a paycut and some firings IMHO, as they will have screwed the best thing we've seen around here in years!

If - and this is the key - if the Cowboys graded Mason as a second round pick last year and they like his film from his rookie season in St. Louis, then he will be a second round value to the team.
The truth is, there is a good chance that Dallas' second round pick next year will be a RB... so if they use that pick on a RB that they value as worth a 2nd round choice... then they just got their RB a season early. In that case, they aren't giving up a Randy Gregory (who is viewed by many as a top 15 type player). The likelyhood of a player like that falling down to their second round pick again next year is highly, highly unlikely.
It is much more likely that they end up using that pick on a 2nd round RB who they think is worth a 2nd round pick.
But then again, is Mason worth that 2nd round pick?? I don't think he is now, or last year coming out of Auburn. I like him, but not for that. A 4th or 5th?, send Air Jerry tonight!
Man it is a pipe dream to think the Rams would part with Mason for either a 4th or a 5th. Hell, they wouldn't do it for a 4th AND a 5th.
Teams thought he was worth a 2nd round pick last year, and I don't see any reason why he's done anything to lower his value. The only reason the Rams might would part with him at all is because they used the 10th overall pick on Gurley.
The key to my whole scenario is if Dallas thought he was worth a 2nd last year... That we don't know.
If they did, then they very well might think he is worth one next year.
But this is all just speculation, so I'm not saying that I know I'm right. It is just what I think might happen if they happened to want Mason for picks. It is truthfully very unlikely to happen anyway.
Fantasy is right regarding Miller.Lamar Miller or Tre Mason are my fantasies.
Knowshon Moreno or Ben Tate are the likely realities.
I've said that many times over the years.Off the wall comment...I'm still mad we didn't draft weddle.
Lamar miller......dare i say A. P
I've said that many times over the years.
I have a slight hope that Dallas might still end up trading with St. Louis for Tre Mason.
I know, I know... St. Louis won't want to do that until they know Gurley is going to be able to carry the load this year, but Fisher loves to trade and stockpile draft picks. Plus, the Rams (under Fisher) and the Cowboys seem to always work well together on trades.
For the right player(s) and/or pick(s), I think Fisher would do it.
Oh, alright... you all are probably right... it is a pipe dream.
I can hope though.
