I have a slight hope that Dallas might still end up trading with St. Louis for Tre Mason.

I know, I know... St. Louis won't want to do that until they know Gurley is going to be able to carry the load this year, but Fisher loves to trade and stockpile draft picks. Plus, the Rams (under Fisher) and the Cowboys seem to always work well together on trades.

For the right player(s) and/or pick(s), I think Fisher would do it.

Oh, alright... you all are probably right... it is a pipe dream.

I can hope though.

I'll had some of my hope that be like wow lol like I would be incredibly happy

I would discount anybody over the age of 30 so the list just got a lot shorter.

Nothing more than a guy to wear out before the season starts IMO.

Really not much that I would be willing to part with. That doesn't mean the team wouldn't be willing to, but I'd hope they would only make a significant trade using draft picks.

The Rams need OL and the only player that would be worth the Rams parting with Mason for would be Leary... but I don't think Dallas would do that. I don't think I would either.

Using a 2nd or third round pick on Mason would be the way I'd go. And that is only if the Dallas coaches really liked Mason in last year's draft... which I'm not sure if they did or not.

The truth of the matter is that, in all likelyhood, Dallas won't trade for a back but will instead pick up some RB's they like after the first round of camp cuts. Dallas doesn't want age at all on their roster, so I think CJ, SJ, etc. probably aren't going to happen.

Mason is nice to hope for though. I really like him as a player.

Way too high for Mason. Way too high! If we were going to go that route we could have gotten a handful of backs in round 2-3 in the past draft. I like the player, but no way. Remember players of great caliber have been gotten for way less in recent years. A 2-3 is something you give for a Lynch, AD, etc.

I wonder if the teams [seeing our strength] would want to see us get stronger at our weakest position?

One of the Chargers backs won't make the team. They have Gordon, Woodhead, Jahwan Edwards and Brandon Oliver. I'd take either of Edwards or Oliver based on last night.

In any event, McFadden will be playing in the next preseason game, I'm sure, so that will be a watershed moment for the RB decisions for the team.

Well, the Rams used a second on him last year and he hasn't really done much of anything to lose value.

I do understand what you're saying though and RB is a position that doesn't bring a lot of offers in.

However, my primary thought in saying a 2nd or 3rd round pick is that the Rams probably want to keep Mason until they're 100% sure about Gurley and have seen him play well in some regular season games. IMO, the trade would have to be in the Rams favor a little bit in order to get them to go ahead and let their security blanket go.

I don't think Fisher will want to trade him but if Dallas over-paid some, they might entice him to take a chance he normally wouldn't.

Also, I don't think many NFC teams are going to want to trade a back to Dallas with their offensive line as good as it is. There is a decent chance that whoever trades a good RB to Dallas is going to end up with some egg on their face when it comes to their own fan base.

If Mason went to Dallas and then absolutely lit it up, the Rams faithful would get pretty riled up. And if Gurley happened to not be as good as everyone thinks and Mason becomes really good in Dallas, Fisher would never live it down.

There is some fairly significant downside there for the Rams, so IMO, you'd have to entice them with a pretty good offer.

That was my line of thinking.

I thought maybe Seastrunk would at least be decent as a back to get through preseason but that ended last night. He made me dizzy watching him run sideways for 3 yards.

Yep. It didn't take long at all to see why he won't be making the team. He wasn't hitting the holes anywhere close to where he needed to be doing.

Plus, throw in the fact that apparently anyone on the field, no matter how small they are, can arm tackle him and he won't get an extra inch.

He just looked weak and didn't run within the confines of the blocking scheme.

Bye-Bye Lake. Come back when you are bigger than a pond.
