Dalvin Cook averaged 6 1/2 yards per carry Sunday. He had 72 yards on just 11 carries.

We weren't "much better" in run defense Sunday. It just looks that way because we got a lead and Cook only had 3 carries in the entire 2nd half.

The run defense is a big problem and if it doesn't get better then will be a huge part of the reason this team is an early out.
Green Bay had 3 passing TDs.

The Cowboys allowed more rushing yards vs the Bears but won that game.

They lost vs the Eagles because Rush threw 3 INTs.

The lost vs the Bucs because they only scored 3 points.

There is no proof that run defense will prevent them from winning...

How big of a lead? We were up by 14 over GB.

The better teams don’t panic and abandon the run game. Certainly not early and down by just two scores, as was the case with Green Bay. If you do it well, keep doing it.

That's certainly what I expect from our upcoming opponents. Do it until Dallas shows they can consistently stop it, they haven’t shown that they can yet.

I though on early downs we did a good job containing cook.

Agreed. We haven't proven anything, but I felt like we made it harder for them to run well enough to stay ahead of the down & distance. It's not a solution, but a step in the right direction.

If the addition of OBJ means our offense will score quicker annd often, then pay the man what he wants. It is clearly obvious that we cannot be put into a position where a running team like the 9ers, etc, is able to pound away at will. The 9ers game last night is exactly why they are a major thorn in the side of any team. Jimmy G has to do very little....

The key to our success is fast stats by our offense. If we gain the early lead we not only can continue pounding the rock ourselves which enables our QB and passing offense to be more effective and efficient while forcing our opponents to throw more which plays into our strength on defense .

Dallas is 15-0 when leading at half last two seasons .

Offense gave the defense a 14pt lead with 9min left. Defense absolutely crapped the bed after that. This has happened too many times over time. I remember having an 11pt lead with like 6min to go against NYG on SNF in 2011 and we lost that game.

This defense is nowhere near elite and that's ok, because it's extremely rare to have an elite defense in this climate. Rules make it near impossible. But the issue is, they aren't even good when it matters the most.

Last year's playoff game, while they didn't give up a ton of points, they did give up a ton of long drives. I believe SF scored on all their 1st half possessions. They never took over and made their mark. They got blown off the ball and wide open WRs all game. The opening game against Tampa was almost a repeat defense wise of the SF playoff game. Couldn't stop the run and they killed us all game. Long drive after long drive and never got off the field.

lol I've literally been here posting a lot during and since the game Sunday.

I even made a thread about the game yesterday morning that is currently sitting at 9 pages long.

Will someone educate this poster about me being here win, lose, or draw, please? Thanks.

It will be interesting to watch the run D trajectories of both us and Philly. Both Ds struggled at stopping the run. We grabbed Hankins. Philly double dipped with Suh and Joseph. For one game, the Eagles new acquisitions helped stifle Taylor and Indy. While Cook didn't have a lot of yards, he had a very high ypc and if the game was close, he easily would have eclipsed 100 yards.
