Are people on this board too young to remember E. Smith and M. Irvin?

Most of these guys weren't even a twinkle in their daddy's eye then. Some of 'em's dad wasn't even a twinkle in granpa's eye.

man, I used to love seeing the practice reports in the early 90s. You'd always see Aikman and Irvin going full speed through drills together, and Irvin bustin his but through everything they dad. You could just see the intensity even in the simplest drills. If Felix has that type of intensity and work ethic, you'll see it right away.

Wasn't Jerry Jones the one who told us Quincy Carter was another Michael Vick???

I think I'll take what Jerry Jones says with a grain of salt.

But I like the Felix Jones pick. We're splitting hairs between him and Mendenhall.

Well in certain ways he was right!!!! :D

Unfortunately, I've been a huge fan of the Boys and have followed them since the Craig Morton/Roger Staubach days. I say unfortunately only because how old that makes me.

I remember a lot of names and plays and stuff from the 90's and those championship teams.

Unfortunately, what I remember most about the Big Three are

1. Aikman's concussions
2. Irvin face down on the turf in Philly
3. Emmit being a step too slow his last couple of years here

No doubt.......just like the 88 was DP's first.................we're gettin' old............

hahaha...are you kidding me?

I remember Don Perkins, Dan Reeves, Bob Hayes, Lance Rentzel, Don Meredith, and Mike Ditka.

Anyone too young to remember the 3 amigos of the 90's is too young for me to converse with.

Plenty of 5th graders on this board, it would seem.

I'm pretty sure peplaw06 is pubescent, or nearly there.
I'm hoping to get there by the end of August.

:crossed:

All I keep reading here (and in the media) are controversial posts debating whether Dallas should have drafted F. Jones or Mendenhall and may argue for the latter. But even among those who argue for Felix Jones, nobody is talking about the comments Jerry Jones made about Felix Jones having a “Michael Irvin” work ethic and team mentality, and a lower body build similar to E, Smith’s - with similar elusiveness but with more speed. Are posters just not fazed by such comparisons, or have most forgotten, or simply are too young to know, these two 90’s Icons?

It’s a legitimate question because anyone who remembers and can appreciate a Michael Irvin and an Emmitt Smith, should also understand and appreciate Jerry Jones’ affinity for them, and further acknowledge the significance behind Jerry Jones’ comparisons of Felix Jones to these 90s Icons. Jerry Jones won Super Bowls with Emmitt and Irvin. Both are/will be Pro Bowlers. Trust me, Jones does not throw their names around liberally. In fact, I have never heard him EVER compare anyone to Irvin or Emmitt since they’ve played/retired, and I find it VERY SIGNIFICANT that Jerry Jones is comparing Felix Jones’ abilities to those of these two storied players.

If I can point to anything that makes me comfortable with the Felix Jones pick, it is these comparisons – these alone – to Irvin and E. Smith that have me convinced he was the right pick – the only pick – truly worthy of a Dallas Cowboys first-round draft selection. Jerry Jones simply would not throw around such comparrisons around if they did not have real teeth to them, yet mostly everybody here and in the media seem to let this go by unnoticed. What gives?

Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith? Who it he hell are these guys?
