Are the Cowboys okay on the O-line?

It seems the Cowboys are so riddled with injury on the O-line that they may not be able to execute their deeper routes that require plays to develop downfield. Short passes and handing the ball off is all I see them being able to do successfully. Am I seeing this wrong? Please discuss.

You do know that teams play it safe with injuries, before the start of the season.

But no. We are not okay on the O-line. We are not okay at center and we are not okay at left guard. If there is a discussion among us fans at those two positions, then there is probably a discussion among the coaches there as well.

It seems the "injuries" are mostly nagging/conditioning in nature. So I am not really worried.

You'll get good to great play from the LT, RG and RT. You have options at LG and C. Worst case scenario, the OL should be at least decent in 2020.

From what I've read/heard, I think I'll just take a "wait and see" approach.

I just hope that I'm not waiting to see the OLine crumble against Donald and company in Cali.

The roster cut down day is fast approaching. I believe it is Sept 5th this year. That's little more than a week away. I'm not feeling good about the O-line or safety position but that's more about the lack of quality information getting out of Training Camp this year. My expectations for this team have been on a roller coaster of late. All the good things I see seem to be negated by something bad. Now I don't know what to expect.

There questions, no doubt. But that doesn't mean there aren't good answers. Collins should be good by opening day. While it's true Smith is always fighting an injury, it's also true that he doesn't miss a lot of time, and his taking time off at TC is likely only a precaution. Williams is said to be recovering well and is getting his share of reps. Then we have Biadasz and McGregor who are unknowns to a degree because they haven't seen any playing time yet, but they are both well regarded and may help solidify things. So yes, questions, but a lot of potential answers. I don't think the O-Line will be at it's dominant peak of a few years ago, but I'm personally optimistic that it will still be a good O-Line.

I think any position group like the OL, DL, and LBs...they are only as good as the backup that is capable of stepping in and performing well enough that your team can still win. Unexpected injuries happen every year. The teams that can handle those things best usually win in the playoffs.

I find it interesting that the year McCarthy’s packers won the SB, they had a ton of injuries. They were able to get good enough performances from backup players that their injuries did not hijack their season. Some of that is about having young, talented backups, but a large part of it is coaching and mindset.

Newsflash- we’re going to have some starters miss games. The question is can our coaches get these backup players “coached up” to step in adequately. This is an area where Garrett sucked, and Mac has excelled in the past. Hopefully McCarthy is an upgrade.

According to pretty much every analyst and article it will still be top 5 but if it’s not 2016 some fans here consider it trash. Obviously we won’t know until the season starts but we can say that about literally every positional group that a lot of people have already declares All Pros.

I mean will Aldon Smith play like he did in the 2nd half of the season last year? Will Dware not show up again? Will LVE be like his rookie year or last year even before he was injured? Did Jaylon improve? Will Ceedee live up to the hype even though he hasn’t even played a game in the NFL? Will Cooper start showing up in road games? Will Diggs be able to replace Byron? Will Zeke regress even further or god forbid our O line isn’t top 5, will he be able to match his prior production?

I think the concerns are overdone and truly believe we will have a top 5 O line, top 10 at worse. I don’t know how we can win games unless we’re top 5 though
