Because he had the balls to do it....if you want to blame someone, blame the coaches and trainers that allowed him to play. A real player wants to play, it's up to the staff to decide who plays.
So, in 2021 it was the coaches call to play Zeke and rest Pollard in that Week 18 game against the Eagles practice squad when Zeke was supposed to be hurt and our playoff spot was already locked up? Are you saying Pollard didn't want to play?

Zeke needing a few more yards to get to 1,000 had nothing to do with? The coaches cared about that, not Zeke?

Come on, Ranch.

It wasn’t Zeke’s responsibility to limit his carries. Blame the coaches. You have a weird sickness for Zeke it’s gross.
Zeke sucks and is overpaid. Don’t care whose fault it is. Good riddance. Cowboys are a better football than they were yesterday.

Very proud of this front office. Wish they hadn't tagged Pollard, but that and restructuring Gallup's contract have been the only missteps of the offseason. Very happy with everything else.

Zeke it was a fun ride those first three years bud. Good luck wherever you land.

Zeke was great, but I think Dallas really did run him into the ground.

Is it worth his contract though? No.
Is he washed up? I don't think so.

I think he'll sign somewhere and do OK. if I were him, I'd take a dirt-cheap contract to go to a contender.

I think he'd be a good fit, as a #2/RB by committee in KC, CHI, GB, JAX, or MIN.

Just curious why do you think they were missteps? I never understood why fans had issues with tagging guys.

Unlike you I want what’s best for the team, not my pet favorites.

When Dak is replaced by a better qb I’ll be as happy as anyone. Unlike you I don’t get attached to players.
 I guess you do not read or comprehend very well. Many other posts I said what ever is best for the team.
But you do like making stuff up as to what I actually post.

To me the 49ers game was the changing of the guard. When TP left the game, it was like the reality of the true RB1/RB2 situation was revealed and we could no longer protect Zeke's rep with all of this split backfield nonsense. He had to perform that night, and it just wasn't there anymore.

TP has earned the top spot, and deserves to get a chance to move forward. Zeke also deserves a chance to move on somewhere else without having his spot took and continuing this into the next season. Now he can go somewhere new and develop the 2nd half of his career. This is good for all involved.

My guess is Dallas is going to get Pollard on a more friendly deal here pretty soon.
Restructure of Smith's deal, Pollard tag number gone and a release of Lewis get's them a big chunk of cap space - without even taking into account Zeke's savings which come in June.

Plenty of space to still get a DT, WR and possibly more.

A failed very expensive venture for our team which 50% departs today and the other 50% next spring.

-Gallup is due to wanting an out of his contract after 2023 if he doesn't improve
-Tag is very similiar to renting instead of owning a house. You realize the full cap hit that year without building equity. A $10.5M cap hit is too much for any RB, because of it being the least important position on either side of the ball. If they has signed him to say a 3yr/$33M contract with $5M, $11M and $16M cap hits where we cut him loose before that 3rd season, its a much better use of CAP.

With all due respect to Elliott, perhaps this FO finally recognizes the need to move on to what might well be better things. The upcoming draft should provide an ample supply of good candidates to replace him. Let's acknowledge the good he's done for this team in the past and be glad that he was able to help the Cowboys when they needed it the most. Let's see if the Cowboys FO is now willing to do what they need to do for their team.

But the tag isn’t finalized. To my knowledge they can still sign him to a 3 year 33 mill dollar deal like you suggested.

And while I agree 10 million is a big hit for a RB….Pollard meant a lot to this offense last year. He and Lamb were our best players. But I’m also reluctant to sign a multi year deal with a guy coming off injure so I the tag was smart.

Gallup deal looks favorable to me if he goes back to what he was pre injury.

Yes....you really think a player tells the staff who to play....again, this isn't Madden
