Just which free agents did we miss out on?

It is a stupid theory.

The much more likely theory is we spread out the Romo money and saved the restructure on Dez to extend Martin this summer.

This view has merit, but the management of high cost could be real as well...look at the departures of veterans over the past five seasons.

What a joke...

From the article...But honestly, those monies were desperately needed back in March when the Cowboys were losing key players to free agency and there was no way to stop the bleeding.

Who were these key players we were losing to free agency? What bleeding? Who was available that we missed out on?

It's funny how a stupid article gets posted and then a bunch of Dez haters here start chiming in agreeing with the article...

Such lofty knowledge, when preparing for the future always has merit. Yea, throw in some insultive terms as well...that's pure credibility in a discussion as well.!

Dez either didn't get healthy, or didn't really "turn it on", until the playoff game last year. That's what concerns me. He's matured a ton the last couple years, and he always talks about how dedicated he is to the team, but the production just hasn't lived up to the contract. 2017 will have a huge impact on Dez's future in Dallas.

Wait, a discussion isn't following company line around here...they use insultive titles to end discussions.

Just think who was involved in playoff times and the Cowboys didn't quite make it, as well.

I read that with the growing belief the author had no idea how Dallas manages the cap or the lack of even average players available in FA. And in every sentence, it was confirmed.

There either had to be absolutely no player that would have been a stud at defensive end, or the overall direction DID apply. That includes the tag along concepts...cap considerations.

Facts include all management reasons, not what just feeds the burn barrel.

Thankfully our FO clearly doesn't share your opinion, and Dez will remain a Cowboy for the foreseeable future.

Don't get me wrong, I like Dez. I like his play...but a Michael Irvin in team leadership. Hey, I'm still waiting for that part to unfold.

Really, how clear is it? Do you have evidence that you are not sharing that says Dez's is not on his way out?

Dez started falling off when he got paid. He seems to need to be motivated at all times so I'm sure this was done for that reason. I'm sure his agent speaks to him about things like that as well. He knows what he needs to do to stay in Dallas. It's up to him

Yeah... after he got paid that was BS... was peeving me off!

With that said... I think he is turning that corner. I hope.

Bottom line: YOU DONT take that weapon away from Dak.

YOU
JUST
DONT!

It won't take long to prove you wrong, just hold on to your hat. Dez's replacement is coming in the draft.

Sorry guy, that post was just humor on the guys who come knocking on site, with a dead headed reference point and an untasteful agenda...
I stated above, Dez has some proof still on the table to be picked up. He has to lead 'his' team to victories this very season...(but I like Dez.)

...and I've been asking for his trade since before he was re-signed. I don't like him.

No objection to a person's point of view...you missed the pure humor.

To set the record straight...I think that Dez has an old Texas Ranger trait at his side - he would crawl on hand and knees to get there to set it straight.

Such insecurity at the idea one would question the logic of the lord of fools.
It's easier to avoid uncomfortable questions and divert it appears.

This work reads as more than a bit extreme, but I think it's obvious that a conscious decision was made not to rework this contract. And others as well.

I don't think this means that Bryant is headed out the door, but rather that that the team wants to have the flexibility to get out of contracts in the future if they so desire. It's a smart strategy. If you're going to rework deals and get locked in long term, you'd better be sure.

It's one thing to rework a Tyron Smith or Travis Frederick deal, it's another to rework everybody and be stuck. Pay as you go has its advantages too. Gives the team flexibility as mentioned, and also keeps players motivated.

Once the Romo contract is off the books, the team will have a lot of cap room and flexibility. I hope that they use it wisely, with a view on the big picture rather than money burning a hole in their pockets.
