Are we as blind and homerish as these Pats fans?

Wow this thread of mine blew up.

Back on topic, it just fascinates me that in my hour of reading through the Pats' forum last night, not a single person ever said "Well we did cheat." Or "I'm disappointed in Brady." Or "Whew, to be honest, it could have been a lot worse considering we've cheated twice now."

I think Cowboys fans, like any fans, are definitely homers and all... but I'm sure that if this were Cowboyszone, a lot of people would be admitting that we cheated and saying how disappointed we were in Romo, even if it it was a minority.

But every single Pats fan thinks they were wronged and that Brady is completely blameless. It's mindblowing to me.

I think many speak in general terms when we say "we" are as much homers as they/other fans. But we have our share of rational fans and fans who don't buy Kool-Aid by the container.
I find it hard to believe that there's not one Patriot fan who thinks Brady cheated. But, really, I'm not that interested in reading their forums to find out. I trust your report even if I think there's some Pats fan out there who understands what Brady did is not acceptable.

I was the same, and that's why I wanted to read their forum. I wanted to see some good banter back and forth between their fans. And I'm sure there are some Pats fans out there who understand what Brady did was wrong, but in an hour of reading through posts on their most popular forum, I couldn't find one single instance. That was insane to me.

We are seriously going to start the argument about this Hardy situation AGAIN after it was argued to death in multiple threads in the past?

Seriously.

I wish you mods would just let some things run their course.

people are still interested in the topic.

If the appeal board is truly independent, can there be any other result other than overturning the suspension? The more I see, the more I read, the more apparent it becomes that this is a very transparent witch hunt.
The NFL stipulates a penalty of 25k for the offense. There is no proof of, not only Brady deflating the balls, but even the Patriots deflating them intentionally below legal limits. If, and they were, the NFL gauges were inaccurate, how can anyone say with any degree of certainty the Patriots ball boy had a better gauge?

Here is one view from a commenter on another article:
"Colonel Forbin 17 minutes ago
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Incident: The Vikings and Panthers illegally heat footballs on the sideline
NFL action: Send out memo saying that you can't do that

Incident: Brett Farve refuses to turn over his personal cell phone for an investigation
NFL action: $50,000 fine

Incident: Chargers used a stickum towel on the sideline for footballs/gloves, equipment guys try to impede the NFL investigation
NFL action: $20,000 fine

Incident: Patriots played the first half of the AFCCG with under-inflated footballs
NFL action: Brady suspended 4 games, Pats fined $1,000,000 and docked a 1st and 4th round draft pick."
Probably because the team has a history of cheating and this isn't their first time.

I wish you members would just learn to try not to beata topic into every thread. OP might want his thread topic to get a chance to run its course before it segues into an off-topic matter, which is what happened here. His topic didn't even make it to the 2nd page before somebody brought up Hardy.

You can still be as interested as you want in the topic...in a separate thread.
