Of course we should be a bit worried.
This defense just isn't very deep, and with injuries to Hitchens and suspensions to arguably our two best pass rushers (Irving/Moore) we're just not in good shape defensively.
And unfortunately, any new wrinkles we would've had on offense (Switzer/Rico) will not be ready for week 1.
Oh and not to mention, no Zeke.
The Giants are a good team and, more importantly, a matchup problem.
The DL is deep and that is without Irving and Moore. 90, 93, 98, 97, and 66 can hold down the fort at DE while 95 and 58 serve their suspensions. When they come back it's overflowing. 96, 55, and 92 can handle DT along with 66 and another young guy like the current 74, 76 or 69.
MIKE is an issue but 54 and 52 look to be getting first shot. It's not like the cupboard is bare. 51 and 57 are okay at SAM. The issue is 53 and his lack of development. I think everyone was expecting better out of him but we will see. We will bring someone new in I am sure.
CB will be fine once 33 comes back which is imminent. The return of 27 makes us deep. 32, 30, and 25 remain and round it out with 39 who is tackling better. We'll have to see about 26's knee injury.
S is fine with 31 and 38 starting. 35 is developing nicely and 25 has already started to bite and returned to practice.
The GIants are not a matchup problem particularly if OBJ is dinged up. Their OL stinks and they have no rushing attack. Our O against their D is strength on strength. Without Hankins, I like our chances to run against them. 3 fingers is not what he used to be.
