On film, Mazi has made some improvement. He's not flashy and he isn't going to be Aaron Donald. But he's a worker. That said, using a 1st round pick on him was probably a reach. if he were a 2nd or 3rd Rd pick, he'd look better and would have a longer opportunity to develop.

Those 1st rounders gotta be immediate impact guys. 2025 is his last chance to prove he was worth that 1st round pick.

^^This. Mazi had a mid season stretch last season where he graded out among the top half of all NFL DT's. He did improve last season, but it went unnoticed because so many people have a preconceived notion that he sucks and have written him off as a bust.

It’s interesting that fans do not hone in on the fact that those were 1st or second round picks, but not high on the draft. Also, the team evidently had great difficulty in ascertaining a player’s passion for the game and moral character. Several other teams are better at it. Taco and Mazi were both end of the first round guys, and Hill a bottom of the second round guy. Both Taco and Hill had the Marinelli blessing/curse, and so there’s that. Mazi does not care about football, so there’s that.

First of all, Hill was a second rounder we got a Mari Cooper that year in the first round so we didn't have a first round pick but that's as good as a first round pick. I'd say the Cowboys are as good or better than anyone else in the draft we've seen far worse draft picks how do you think we ended up with that guy turner whatever that first round bust from New Orleans he's a pass rusher you know he was picked in the 20s of the first round I mean happens all over the NFL but we always got to see these posts trying to mock the Cowboys in which there's proof right there we can go through the other six rounds but let's just stick to the first round for now...

So, 14 years of 1st rounders 2 bad choice and 2 questionable choices?? add in the trade down for Parsons to pick up Osa..and Guyton maybe a question mark not but they traded down and got BEEBE the starting center as well.. those alone recently says they do a great job in the first round..

Guyton in 24 TBD bet hes starter at left or RT someday, we will see.. INC But hes attached to BEBEE so score!!

• 2017: Taco Charlton - Pick 28 (DE - Michigan) ouch
• 2016: Ezekiel Elliott - Pick 4 (RB - Ohio State) awesome pick top 3 rookie rushing production ALL TIME
• 2015: Byron Jones - Pick 27 (DB - UConn) Not bad was good but not great
• 2014: Zack Martin - Pick 16 (T - Notre Dame) HOF great choice
• 2013: Travis Frederick - Pick 31 (C - Wisconsin) Great choice

I don’t remember the other two receiving as much negative commentary after their first two seasons. I really don’t think this year will be much different for Mazi. He’ll either be released at some point or gone in free agency.
