Are we in a better place after McCarthy left than Garrett?

that awesome OL and running game are long gone.
Our offense has been practicably totally depleted. And our QB is 5 years older with 2 season ending injuries. I suppose we could argue our defense has improved somewhat when key players are healthy.

great post. And here's my question for everyone...

Does Jerry..

A) honestly think he is competent and under his guidance and control the team will eventually win a Super Bowl
or
B) in quiet moments he has thoughts that maybe he should get a football guy to run the team. But, if he does that and they have success, he will be forced to field questions about why this wasn't done 25 years ago.
Unfortunately it doesn’t matter because winning a championship isn’t the ultimate priority unless he’s the man in place to receive credit.

We should have realized this 30 years ago when winning back to back championships wasn’t enough.

Oh, for sure, Legends always point only to real roles...gone by.

This is often a measurement for a HC’s success.

Are we in a better place now in 2025 than when McCarthy took over in 2020 ?

Im not sure we can argue that. We probably were in a better place during those 12 win seasons but now .. IDK.

Your thoughts …
Parsons was drafted under the McCarthy era and he made them 4 wins better. And to think Parsons fell into their lap. Boy did McCarthy get lucky.

About the same or worse.
The drafting of Micah kinda/sorta balances out being still stuck with SleepNumber.
Kinda.

So about the same or worse.

I think we are in a worse position b/c we are tied down with 2 contracts and soon to be 3 when Micah signs his deal. This is going to be a VERY top heavy team unless McLay starts hitting it out of the park on drafts days. We need everyone to stay healthy b/c there isn't going to be positional depth anywhere.

Whoever inherits this roster is not going to be able to make it over very quickly.

People here rip on Garrett. But he had one losing seasons out of 9. HE brought stability to the franchise.

I woiuld have resigned McCarthy, because it seemed like we had stopped the 4 year cycle with Garrett. And this kind of puts us back on it.

After watching the playoffs this weekend, I would say we clearly have a better foundation than some of those teams. We have three players, IMO, who are penned-in contenders for All-Pro every year, plus Aubrey. Show me one guy in the Chargers-Texans matchup that rises to that level.

What we need is to address the weakness at QB1.

Jason Garrett also had 3 winning seasons out of 9. Just my opinion…but the stability Garrett brought was consistent mediocrity.
Which in this era under Jethro as GM might be as much as we can hope for..“ consistent mediocrity “ . Opposed to the up and downs with losing seasons .

Just saying. But yea I hear ya. Sometimes when your handicapped must lower expectations or at least lower the bar.

Unfortunately that’s basically what we have become. I know with our illustrious history tough for everyone to accept. I guess 30 years hasn’t been long enough.

Hopefully Jethro will be gone before it reaches 50 years which should cleanse out all of this championship type hope for our franchise.

You were two posts before me bro and I didn't scroll up, lol.
Spot on.

We are in a much worse place. Jerry is older and more argumentative than EVER. He is getting dumber by the day. and he's the defacto decision maker. How could we be in a better place? He decimated the team in the off season and strapped Dak to us for years!

I say much worse, Dallas is just now entering a new Dak contract for a declining QB. If only they let Dak test the market, Dallas would be in a good place for a new direction under a different HC/QB combo. It is purgatory for a few more seasons at least.
