Are we seeing the new Jerry Jones (GM)???

I didn't say he was either but he was part of the problem. also for someone who's been a fan for that long it's quite interesting how often you go to bat for a guy who disrespected this franchise several times whether he was a part of the Cowboys or not..

I go to bat with passion for anyone that is unfairly blamed for something.

Kobe Bryant (not capable of winning with out shaq), TO (08 season failure), Dirk (not being a legit superstar and i hate the MAVS), Pit Bulls (being evil dogs), Romo (for the Giants loss). If people/poster regurgitate any of that non sense then you will get a response. Its My MO, but it is always Team before player in my book.

I can understand that. I don't think he deserved the amount of blame he got where they acted like he was the sole reason for the 08 season. but imo he was one of many problems with the team in 08.

Quality GM?
He has won 3 super bowls in 20 years.

Thats fantastic/

We all saw how Jerry practically single-handedly dismantled those championship teams not long after Jimmy left. Once the players Jimmy drafted left and those that Jerry took starting in '94 became the "core players" we ended up with three straight 5-11 seasons.

But no doubt after 20 years Jerry isn't the absolute imbecile he was in those early years when he tried taking credit for Jimmy and the staffs success, but he's still far from a quality talent evaluator or GM.

Honestly I have come to the conclusion that the right decision was made. For Romo to be the team leader, TO had to go. Now in my opinion that is not an indictment of TO, its just that TO is an alpha male and Romo is not. That is not a knock on Romo either, you can be a leader without having an Alpha Male personality. Im a firm believer that move would not be made if Aikman was the qb. Aikman could handle TO, but in order for the "TEAM" to view Romo as the leader, then it was best if TO left.

I want to get wholeheartedly on board with Jerry but then he comes out and defends Roy Williams to such a degree that just leaves me bewildered.

I don't understand the need to coddle this guy and it seems he could have easily said every position is always up for grabs and no player should ever feel his job is safe and leave it at that.

What am I missing? What is the logic behind publically defending Roy or any player to such a degree?

I have no issue with Jerry calling guys out, If I forked over the money Jerry has you better believe I'm going to talk with players when I feel there is a need to light a fire under one.

You were against signing all those guys then?

T-Old? Is that Terrell Owens? Are you saying the Owens singing was a mistake?

One Pro Bowl season, one All-Pro season. Lead the NFL in TDs over the three years and was our 2nd most valuable offensive player over that time.

It would be nice if Jones could make one of these "bad moves" each year.

WINNER!!! WINNER!!!! WINNER!!! Damn right signing or singing T-blow was a mistake. The worst Jones has ever done...

Blah blah blah . T-blow and this pro bowl, all pro, lead the NFL in TD's, more then likely in drops too.

I will take what Dallas got last season from Austin and Romo, stats and LEADERSHIP wise in Romo's case, plus a playoff win over T-blow and 10 yrs with great "stats" but no ring or playoff win.

With all the recent articles published about Jerry putting his players on notice and this does include Roy Williams per http://www.dallascowboys.com/news/news.cfm?id=1C197357-D4E2-9AEB-09D7B7A16DDDBE68&editorialAuthor=12 ...which is an excellent read BTW.

How do you guys feel about it and do you think this team is headed in the right direction?

Maybe Jerry realized that "addition by subtraction" really works and locker room chemistry is important?

I'll be the first to admit that I have dogged Jerry before because I felt some his decisions were what I thought stupid. I just have to give him credit now because he's really doing a good job now.

hopefully jerry has turned the corner. I think in Hindsight trading for RW might have been a good thing...WHAT!!!??? yes, it was rumored that the cowboys staff had advised against Roy WIlliams, and Jerry still went ahead and made the trade (a fantasy football wish from Jerry) and he saw first hand now that it didn't work. So finally he may have learned his lesson. trust your staff. turst the team of advisors and scouts you have put in place. quit playing fantasy football GM. so he may have changed...finally. hopefully he will continue to be smart. so in an indirect way making the trade for RW thinking that's what the team needed to get over the top may have been a slap in the face he needed.

Well let me explain, or at least give you my interpretation.

We are stuck paying Roy what we are. Cutting him makes little sense. Roy has demonstrated a level of play in the past much greater than what we've seen in 08 and 09.

There's some blood in that stone. Jerry's just trying to squeeze it out.
