Are You A real cowboy fan

A real cowboy fan doesn't have to know every player that played the game.

A real cowboy fan just needs to know

Emmitt Smith, And 5 Superbowl rings ;)

I know plenty of fans that can rattle off most of the players that have ever donned a jersey for their team but....

a) look at the floor when someone asks them who their favorite team is
b) have never been to a game
c) don't really own any of their team merchandise
etc.

A real Cowboy fan might not know all of the names, but roots for them during a 0-16 season just as much as during a 16-0 season.

only career catch was for a TD in Superbowl V.
That Super Bowl was played in 1971 and he wasn't on the Cowboys until 1975. There were 2 TDs scored by Baltimore, one by Dallas. None were by Percy Howard.

Super Bowl X against the Steelers.

I didn't know the years he played....but as soon as I read the question
I got mental picture of a rather thin, pretty fast # 81.

I got a Cowboy helmet tattoo on my leg...no turning back now!

I invite you HERE to learn more about our history...

"Once a Cowboy" by the GREAT Walt Garrison will give you a great insight as to what made this franchise legendary. Although relatively short, it is an amazing compilation of stories of our past role players and stars.

I also invite you to purchase a couple of other books that will fill you in on our colorful past:

Cliff Harris' book "Tales from the Dallas Cowboys". The only member from the 70's "All Decade Team" not in the HoF and a friend to cowboyszone.com. He also has a newer book called "Captain Crash and the Dallas Cowboys"

This thing started LONG before the Jimmy Johnson era. You will do yourself a favor by reading up on our past. "Embrace the Hate" came long before the 90's era Cowboys and it is VERY colorful history. If you don't laugh out loud at Garrison's book I will refund the money you spent on it...

Oh... btw I recommend all of the books by Skip Bayless on the Dallas Cowboys... not to read, but to wipe your arse with while reading the others I recommended... ;)

Just a reminder, Walt has a new coming out in September called, "Then Landry Said To Staubach"

If it's half as good as Once a Cowboy, then this one will be great!

That's a little too much, but I have a star tatted on my heart. Die hard here.

I remember getting so hyped about Mike Sherrard and Danny Noonan. It's too bad about Mike. He would have teamed well with Irvin. I remember Irvin and Sherrard went to an INXS concert together. I remember the day he broke his leg again running on the beach. Noonan got into a fight with a undrafted rookie named Nate Newton in mini camp. Danny took Nate's helmet off and hit him with it. I was actually pissed b/c this undrafted rookie messed with our #1 pick. It's ironic how their careers panned out. Those are the kind of stories that you can't find or know about unless you are hardcore fans.

You are dead right CC...

Few things make me laugh out loud... Prelims to American Idol, Joe Theismann breaking his leg (okay okay... no hate mail, but even Commander fans hate him), McNabb in the SB and Walt Garrison's first book...

It has been pointed out here MANY times... the definitive guide to the psyche of the late 60's - early 70's Cowboys resides within his book. If you love the domination of the 90's Cowboys, you will be blown away by the 70's teams...

These are the teams that had 20 straight winning seasons... that's right... 20...

The Cowboys are the most successful teams in the history of the NFL, holding the league records for most consecutive winning seasons (as mentioned above) and most seasons with at least 10 wins (24, a record). They have earned the most postseason appearances (28, another record) which includes 54 postseason games (another record), 32 wins (another record) the most appearances in the NFC Championship Game (14, another record), and the most Super Bowl appearances (8, still another record), two more than any other NFL team. The Cowboys also played in 2 NFL championship games before the NFL's 1970 merger with the American Football League.

All other teams are pretenders...
